Chapter 9 - "No friendship is an accident."

"Hey, dickhead! Rise up, it's morning already!"

I recognized that voice, but I couldn't discern who it was because I was still still half-asleep.

Rise at the early sun they say, fuck that.

"Hey!."

Go away, I'm still asleep.

"HEY!"

"....."

"If you don't get up, I won't treat you to ramen anymore."

Now, I know who is this asshole.

I slowly opened my eyes, and the next thing I saw was a man, smiling like a damn fool.

My childhood bestfriend, Shinji Chiba.

Me and Shinji were tight and unbreakable back in our childhood days. We met in a circumstance when he was getting bullied by a group of fat and large kids. Being physically stronger and taller, my empty heart made a sense that he needed someone to rely on, someone to ook up to, so I saved him from those annoying and insufferable bullies, sparing him from the wounds and broken bones the bullies would have inflicted on him.

We were inseparable. As we grew up I became his wingman because he's fond of women, but as you know, he never got the chance to kiss a girl until the arrival of my other childhood friend, Akane Inoue. She wouldn't have been his first girlfriend if I hadn't left Japan to go abroad.

Shinji laughed as soon as he saw me waking up.

"Good, you're awake." He said with an idiotic smile on his face

"Fuck off." I grumbled.

He laughed again

"Come on, Ray-senpai, let's have a breakfast at our favorite ramen shop." He said cheerfully.

My stomach growled, perfect timing I guess.

"Yeah, get your ass out of here, I'm coming." I said with a half-smile

"Hey, don't forget, it's your turn to pay for our ramen." He reminded me with a wink.

"Yeah, yeah I know. Just go outside." I annoyingly asked

Hearing the annoyance in my voice, Shinji left my room still chuckling like a child.

After dressing in my usual morning outfit and craving for a nice, hot cup of coffee, it didn't take long for me to go outside my room.

I went to the kitchen to make myself some coffee and to my suprise, Shinji already made some coffee.

"Here's your coffee, senpai." Shinji handed me my cup with a bright smile.

I smiled back at him and thanked him.

It didn't take long for me to realize that my father wasn't anywhere in the house.

"Did you see my father, Shinji?" I asked

"Yeah, a while ago. He was with a famous supermodel and a businesswoman before they left the house!." Shinji excitedly said

I furrowed my eyebrows

"Famous supermodel?" I asked

Shinji then bowed his head down like his spirit was overwhelmingly crushed

"Yeah, although I tried flirting with her, but she ignored me like I'm some commoner." Shinji said with a depressing tone.

"Senpai, you should take your chance with her, you're handsome as fuck, you're tall like a fucking skyscraper, you're built like a Greek god-"

"Shinji!" I raised my voice to him to stop talking nonsense.

Shinji was startled.

"Yeah, sorry, senpai." He quickly composed himself.

"Who was this famous supermodel and a businesswoman you're talking about?" I asked

"Her name is Sakura Himura."

I raised my eyebrows

"Also known as "Osaka's finest woman." Shinji enthusiastically added.

"You want to hear her whole life story?." Shinji asked eagerly.

I drank my last remaining sips of coffee and answered Shinji's annoying question

"No, I don't, and I don't care about her." I calmly said with uninterested tone

Shinji fell silent, realizing there was nothing he could do about it, as much as he wanted to tell the story about "Osaka's finest woman".

"Let's just go eat breakfast, alright?"
