Chereads / The Princess' Slave / Chapter 2 - Hi

Chapter 2 - Hi

As they entered the castle door they saw a group of soldiers waiting for them. "Okay!" shouted one soldier. "As you have noticed there is a basket in front of you. As you did in the house, you are to pick a paper to decide your job for the next fifteen years. If you still want to change your job you can. Any questions?" he added. No one raised their hands so they started picking the papers. After about two aethons it was finally Draken's turn to choose. He walked over to the basket, put his hand in, and pulled out a piece of paper. He then walked over to the man at the table. The man opened it and opened his mouth in awe. He then called another soldier. He then whispered in his ear, "Get me General Achilles now." He then turned to Draken and directed him to stand at a corner. After a few minutes, the soldier returned. "Where is he?" asked the soldier. "He said let the boy be." replied the soldier. He stared at the soldier briefly and called the boy to join the rest of the slaves. After five hours they had all picked their jobs. When they had finished they were all ordered to stand in lines and to bow when they heard the trumpets.

After waiting for a few nimixs they heard the sound of trumpets behind two grand gates. Hearing this the girls bowed their heads but Draken fell on one knee. Just then a man came and stood in front of the gates and announced, "Presenting the royal family of Elyria," he began. Hearing this Draken said in his mind, "This has got to be the lamest royal intro I've ever heard." "King Ozzy Beckett III." continued the man and out came a man who looked like he just turned forty-five. "Queen Lysteria Estelle." added the announcer and out came a beautiful middle-aged woman. "Princess Ruby Elysa, Princess Remi Elise, and Princess Calantha Estelle." added the announcer. After he said this, three beautiful girls came out and stood next to their parents. "And finally Prince Beckett Everett." The words did not leave his mouth and out rushed a young boy. "Finally. I thought I would never get called," he said. After the boy joined his family they got back to business. "At ease." said the queen. The slave girls rose their heads and Draken stood up from the ground. The queen then proceeded to give a long speech. "We want you all to know that we don't take you to be slaves. You are more like servants than slaves. You will also thus be treated as such. All we need from you is for you to follow the castle rules. Thank you." The Queen clapped her hands and some men rushed out to group the new slav I mean servants. "Kitchen workers here!" shouted one man. "Cleaners here!" shouted another. They kept grouping until one shouted "Royal servers!" Draken then rushed through the crowd and made it to that guy. When he got there the guy looked displeased to see him. "What are you doing here boy?" asked the man. "I got this job, sir," Draken responded. "But that's impossible!!" exclaimed the man. "You're lying!!" he added. "But it's true!" Draken said trying to explain his case. The king saw the commotion and decided to check it out. "What's going on here?" asked the king. Draken hearing the king's voice fell to his knees. "I think I like this boy already but anyways what is going on here?" asked the king again. "My king this slave boy claims he got a job as a royal server." answered the man who was beefing with Draken. The man who was expecting Draken to talk back was displeased to see that Draken did not utter a word. "Well young man, what do you have to say for yourself?" asked the king. Still, in a bowing position, Draken responds, "My king, I have not lied or swindled my way here. I just kept picking jobs which you deem are for 'girls' and who am I to reject the decision of the goddess Zara, even if it is 'girlish'." The king looks at him and smiles and says, "I'll allow it. I'll send you the royal you would work for." He then turns away and leaves. The man then turns towards the still-bowing Draken and with a butt-ton of hate in his voice he says "You're lucky but remember if you don't change this job of yours, I'm gonna make it a living hell for you." Draken still did not utter a word. After everybody had been grouped they were dispersed but instead of discussing their jobs the question on everybody's mind was "Why was Draken still bowing?"

Said one of the palace guards. The king stood up and started moving towards the place they had grouped up. "Get me Princess Estelle now!" he ordered. The king got over and saw that indeed Draken had not moved an inch. The king then went over to Draken and said, "You made rise young man." Draken stood up and looked at the king. The king then put his hand on Draken's shoulder and said, "I love your respect young man so I think I've got the perfect person you would serve for the next fifteen years." Just then one of the princesses rushed out and stood next to her father. "Yes father you called me." said the princess. "Yes, Estelle. I think I found the person who would serve you for the next fifteen years." responded the king. "This is... What's your name again?" asked the king. "My name is Draken Guddiale," he replied. "I'm going to leave you two together." said the king as he left. They both raised their heads and looked at their faces for the first time. In a shy voice, Estelle says just one word."Hi." "Hi," replied Draken.
