Chereads / One Piece's Bizzare Adventure / Chapter 11 - Returning

Chapter 11 - Returning

Pushing open the transparent door, it was like stepping into a new world.

Looking at the bustling streets, Jon suddenly felt as if he had traveled through time.

Finally, he was back! "Hey hey hey, young man, what are you doing walking around the streets with something so dangerous?"

Suddenly, a policeman approached with a stern face as he carried a baton in his hand.

"Name and age! And, where did you get that knife? Be honest, no messing around!"

"I bought this knife from a handicraft store."

Jon smiled.

After a pause, he asked, "Sir, this is Egypt, right?"

"Of course! Where else would this be?"

The policeman gave Jon a disdainful look.

This kid must be out of his mind!

Jon continued to inquire, "And the time, is it 1988 now?"

"I say, are you deliberately causing trouble? Come with me to the station!"

The policeman didn't want to entertain any more foolish questions.

With a glare, he was about to take action!

A hint of helplessness crossed Jon's face as he vanished into thin air.

The policeman was frightened.

His legs went limp, and he slumped the ground, unable to speak for a while.

Dozens of meters away, Jon, who had emerged from the 'Inner World,' touched his smooth chin.

"Anyway, let's go to the SPW first."

United States, Los Angeles, Joestar Manor.

"Ding ding ding! Ding ding ding!"

The heavy ringing of the landline phone was annoying, but Joseph Joestar didn't pick up. He just leaned back on the sofa, puffing on his pipe.

Perhaps not used to the taste of nicotine, the old man coughed after a few puffs.

"Really, old man, how passive are you going to be?"

Next to him, Jotaro, dressed in a long student uniform, spoke with a tone far beyond his age, "Do you want Jon to see you in this pathetic state?"

"Strict as always, Jotaro. After all, I'm your grandfather."

Joseph smiled bitterly.

Putting down his pipe, he muttered to himself, as if speaking to Jotaro,

"That boy Jon has perfectly inherited all my strengths. He shouldn't be so easy to die."

"He's just missing."

Jotaro corrected expressionlessly.

Joseph fell silent.

After a long while, he spoke slowly, word by word, "It's all my fault. If only I had reacted faster that day, Jon wouldn't have been ambushed by Dio!"

Jotaro's heart trembled.

Closing his eyes, images of the intense battle against Dio flashed through his mind.

At that time, he, Joseph, Polnareff, Avdol, Kakyoin, Iggy, and Jon, along with their dog, had already cornered Dio. Even Dio's time-stopping ability couldn't turn the situation around!

However, the arrow Dio threw in his dying moments caused a tragic tint to what should have been a victorious battle.

Jon.

Jon, who could have easily dodged the arrow with his Stand, chose to take it head-on, considering Joseph's safety behind him!

"Old man, if you put it that way, then my mistake should be even worse. After all, I was the closest one to Dio."

Jotaro slowly opened his eyes.

"What's done is done. No matter how much we regret, it's beyond our control. Instead of living in regret all the time, it's better to give the living an explanation."

After a pause, he added, "Polnareff and Avdol have already arranged everything. We just have to wait for tomorrow's funeral."

"You said it yourself, he's just missing!"

Hearing this, Joseph suddenly became agitated.

Despite being accustomed to storms in life, the old man lost his composure amidst the pain of seeing the young perish.

Jotaro remained silent.

After several seconds, he lowered his hat brim.

"Take a good rest. There are things to do tomorrow."

The wind was cold.

It felt like knives against the face.

Joseph touched his face.

It was wet.

Was it raining?

"Mr. Joseph, you can leave this to us."

Polnareff, who was carrying the coffin, couldn't help but speak up.

Beside him, Avdol added, "Yes, you should be with Mrs. Suzi Q."

"What nonsense!"

Joseph's expression turned serious.

"I'm not so old that I can't handle things!"

"Huh?"

Jotaro lowered his hat brim, making it difficult for others to see his expression.

This was a rather simple funeral, not held in a cemetery but moved to the backyard of the Joestar Manor.

The coffin contained Jon's old clothes, carefully selected by Suzi Q and Holy.

With solemn music playing, they gently placed the coffin into the already dug grave.

Polnareff cleared his throat and turned to face Jon's family, starting the routine memorial service.

"To be honest, I haven't known Jon for long, less than two months in total, but he and I got along the best. Looking back now, those were truly happy days. He was a smart guy and a reliable partner. Wherever he is, may he find happiness and peace."

As he finished speaking, the usually carefree Polnareff couldn't control the tears in his eyes.

Avdol patted his shoulder and said, "I've known Jon for a long time. Several years ago, we traveled around the world seeking martial arts masters. At that time, he was still a kid."

Polnareff, Avdol, Kakyoin, and even the speechless Iggy expressed their longing for Jon.

The air was filled with the scent of sorrow.

Joseph hugged his wife and daughter, shedding silent tears.

Jotaro still kept his hat brim low.

At this moment, a familiar voice broke the heavy atmosphere.

"What are you all crying for?"

Jon, who had just returned from Egypt, looked puzzled.

"What happened?"

One second, two seconds, three seconds. Ten full seconds passed.

Not a single person could utter a complete sentence.

Jon scratched his head, "It's really weird."

"Jon!"

Jon's mother, Suzi Q, was the first to react. She hurriedly ran to Jon's side and tremblingly reached out her hand, "Good boy, is it really you?"

"Of course it's me, mom, no doubt about it."

Jon smiled and nodded to his sister, Holy, "Long time no see, you seem to be doing well, sis."

"Hey, brat, how dare you call your sister 'sis'!"

Joseph was furious.

But this instinctive anger was quickly replaced by joy.

He was finally back!

"Jon!"

"Woof!"

"Where on earth have you been these days? I've been searching for you all over the world!"

"Jon, welcome back!"

Polnareff, Avdol, and others laughed and rushed towards Jon.

Only Jotaro stood still.

But upon closer observation, one could see that the corners of his mouth were turned up.

"Good grief."
