Constantine groggily opened his eyes, blinking away the sleep as he noticed a figure sitting at the edge of his bed. His vision cleared, revealing Shift watching him with a soft smile.
"Morning, creep," he joked, his voice still rough from sleep.
Shift rolled her eyes and threw a pillow at him. "Very funny. I've been sitting here for all of five minutes."
Constantine caught the pillow and propped it behind his head. "So, what's up?"
Shift took a deep breath. "I wanted to apologize for running off last night. I was... I wasn't being mature about it. I promise I'll handle things better from now on."
Constantine's expression softened. "It wasn't just embarrassment, was it?"
Shift hesitated, then shook her head. "No, it wasn't. I got jealous of... you know who."
Constantine sighed, a small smirk playing on his lips. "Not saying her name doesn't change anything. I know who you mean, and my mind goes there."
