Ryan opened his mouth, and words failed him for a moment, before he spoke:
"After all the troubles you have been through, all the troubles you have put me through, now you recognize that it has never been your business?"
Daemon casually looked at him and spoke with the same impassive calmness as before:
"I take back what I said."
Before Ryan could react, whether with satisfaction or surprise, Daemon continued:
"I'm not interested."
The budding expectation came crashing down, but Ryan was not even surprised. Still, his brows subtly twitched as he questioned:
"Where is your conscience?"
Daemon gave him a faint glance:
"Do I have one?"
The reply came in such a flat matter-of-fact tone that Ryan had nothing to say. He subtly pouted, then took his cup once again, turning to look away:
"I don't know why I have a friend like you."
