The sun was higher than it had been when Daemon had dropped Evelyn at her workplace.
His face was on its default expressionless setting as he closed the last file he had been going through before adding it to the stack on his desk.
He made a call, letting it ring once before cutting it. Not long after, Blandon knocked on the door and came in. Used to his boss's silent ways of communicating, he came to the desk and took the stack of documents, and not foreseeing any other instructions, he turned around to leave. But before he could reach the door, the sound of Daemon tapping on the keyboard slowed down just slightly as the latter said:
"Don't let anyone bother me."
"Understood, Mr Peak."
The door closed, silence coming back to accompany the rhythmic sound of fingers hitting the keyboard. With a speed suggesting that he was more accustomed to the activity than the average person, Daemon focused his placid eyes on the monitor.
