"Good morning, dad."
Jason's voice pulled both Evelyn and Daemon back to reality. The latter had lost himself in the former's beauty, but the former had lost herself in the emotions revealed in the dark eyes. At that moment, maybe her heart had resonated with Daemon's.
Without any embarrassment, she looked at him with soft eyes, as he reflexively lowered his head to focus on the source of the juvenile voice, and smiled:
"Good morning, Jason. Have you had a good night of sleep?"
"Yes. What about you?"
Daemon looked at Evelyn from the corner of his eyes, as he replied:
"I had a good night too. Are you ready to go?"
They beheld each other with their gazes, unabashed, as the boy replied, unaware of the ambiguous tension:
"Hm."
"Then let's go."
They got in the car, and as it started moving, Jason asked from the back:
"Dad, what is my godfather like?"
