Shopping. Doing it at three made it feel like a family outing. With soft smiles, and a good part of their attention on Jason, the two parents strolled in the aisles without haste, with Daemon pushing the trolley, while Evelyn made the choices.
Maybe that was how it would have been, had the six previous years not been spent apart, had their separation not been so painful and inexplicable, had the wounds left behind healed already.
It didn't take long to be done, but it didn't feel like a short time for them.
Neither said anything, and as soon as they were back into the car, after the trunk was loaded, they hit the road that would lead to Evelyn's apartment.
With hands full, they let Jason lead the way and unlock the door.
