Jason ran to Daemon and hugged him, or at least hugged his legs. This made Evelyn smile helplessly. After all, she was in front of the man, but she had not received the same treatment.
Still, she was happy that her son was happy. She turned to Dinaia who still had her surprise written on her face. Seeing that, Evelyn knew that she must have truly believed it herself, when she had said months ago that Daemon would not come back.
She made to go to the bedroom to change her clothes, but Dinaia stopped her midway:
"What is he doing here?"
Apart from exasperation, Evelyn thought that she saw another emotion in her friend's eyes, but she didn't think too much:
"You know why he is here."
Saying that, she continued on her way, but Dinaia followed and closed the door behind her:
"Why did you allow him to come? You know-"
Evelyn interrupted her friend with a question:
"Dinaia, why do you hate Daemon so much?"
