Dinaia didn't reply, attacking instead of defending:
"And it's not like you to be self-deprecating."
Ryan smiled, his thoughts going back to the conversation he had with Jennifer before the conference.
Seeing Ryan not speak, Dinaia changed the subject to something she was genuinely curious about:
"Did you actually prepare for what happened today? If not, why did you have the share transfer agreement ready with you? It didn't seem like Daemon signed it willingly."
The change in subject succeeded, even though Ryan was not oblivious to what Dinaia was doing. His smile stopped being low-spirited, and widened:
"I foresaw having some troubles, but the young Fitzgerald turned out more useful than expected, and he even helped me find the best occasion to push Daemon's hand."
