Evelyn bit her lips, and after a moment of silence, she heard Ryan speak, his voice clear from the breath he just took:
"Evelyn, the man in the video just now was a soldier. It was a soldier who didn't die out there, outside of the wires, but back in his own homeland, and in such a dastardly way."
In the ensuing silence, Ryan continued:
"Rowen Wesley was on leave, and that was his last year of service before retirement. He didn't die behind enemy lines, but on the very soil of the country he had been risking his life to protect. He had a son, and his name is Blandon. Because of what happened, his son took the wrong path, and now he is the assistant of Daemon at Healthy Peak."
Evelyn watched in silence as Daemon walked unhurriedly in the wide corridor.
