Chapter 4 - Catching a bandit

[The court's atmosphere shifted dramatically as the king's son, a tall young man with an air of arrogance, sauntered forward. He wore a smirk that could only belong to someone raised in privilege.]

PRINCE – "Look at the brave knights we have here!" [He laughed, loud and mocking.] "What a sight! Perhaps we should hand over the bounty to you, Sir Fenir. You might be better suited to delivering bread than catching a bandit!"

[The laughter from the courtiers echoed around the hall, and Spike's face flushed with embarrassment and anger. The king, surprisingly, joined in the laughter, his eyes twinkling with amusement.]

KING – "Ah, my son! You always have a way with words." [He turned to the guards nearby.] "Increase security around the ports. I want no further breaches while we deal with this rogue."

[The prince continued to mock Spike, but the laughter began to fade as Spike clenched his fists at his sides, struggling to maintain his composure. Borton and Devena exchanged worried glances, while Gigi felt a fire ignite within her.]

This isn't just about us anymore. We need to prove ourselves, not only to them but to each other. [The tension hung in the air as the prince turned away, dismissing Spike with a wave of his hand, and the king resumed his discussion with the guards.]

[After the court session ended, the four friends gathered outside the castle, feeling the weight of the prince's mockery linger in the air.]

GIGI – "We can't let them get to us. We need to focus on finding Blackthorn."

[They walked towards the outskirts of the kingdom, where the lush jungle began to unfold. The vibrant greenery surrounded them, and they found themselves enveloped in the dense foliage.]

DEVENA – "What if we're in over our heads? This isn't like our world. We have no idea what we're doing here."

BORTON – "We're the Knights of the Elements now. We need to act like it." [His voice was steady, but uncertainty flickered in his eyes.]

But where do we even begin? [Spike took a deep breath, feeling the humidity of the jungle wrap around him. The chirping of insects and rustling leaves only amplified their anxiety.]

SPIKE – "Let's head deeper into the jungle. If we can find the cave, we might get a lead on Blackthorn."

[They pressed onward, anxiety mingling with determination. As they navigated through the underbrush, Spike's instincts kicked in. He was used to tracking movements and reading the signs left behind.]

SPIKE – "Wait. Do you hear that?" [He paused, straining to listen.]

[The others stopped, and soon the faint sound of voices echoed through the trees. They hurried towards the sound, their hearts racing. As they pushed through the dense foliage, they spotted a clearing ahead.]

BORTON – "Is that…?"

As they stepped into the clearing, they saw a group of bandits gathered around a fire, talking and laughing. Their leader, Blackthorn, stood at the center, his dark hair falling around his shoulders, a confident smirk on his face.

SPIKE – "There he is! We have to move now!" [He pointed toward the bandit leader, adrenaline surging through him.]

The group nodded in unison, the stakes suddenly feeling very real. They crept forward, staying low to the ground, their hearts pounding with each step. But before they could get too close, they spotted Blackthorn heading towards a hidden cave nearby.

DEVENA – "Let's follow him. We can catch him off guard."

[They moved stealthily behind him, but the jungle was alive with sound, and every crackle of a branch beneath their feet made them hold their breath. They reached the entrance of the cave just as Blackthorn vanished inside, the flickering shadows of the fire illuminating the cave's mouth.]

[With a shared glance of determination, they entered the cave, the darkness swallowing them whole. As they ventured deeper, the air grew cool, and the walls shimmered with moisture.]

GIGI – "Stay close. We can't let him escape." [Her voice echoed softly in the silence, tension palpable.]

[They moved cautiously, the faint light from the entrance fading behind them. Suddenly, a loud clang resonated through the cave, and the ground beneath them trembled slightly. Panic surged through their veins.]

BORTON – "What was that?" [He whispered, a sense of dread washing over him.]

Before they could react, the cave's entrance began to close behind them, a massive stone sliding into place, sealing them inside.

SPIKE – "No! We have to get out!" [He rushed toward the entrance, but it was too late. The stone was locked in place, trapping them.]

[The cave felt suddenly alive, the walls vibrating as if they were alive. An eerie laughter echoed around them, and Spike slammed his fists against the rock, frustration boiling over.]

SPIKE – "This is a trap! Blackthorn set us up!" [His voice reverberated against the cave walls, amplifying their desperation.]

The realization hit them hard, and panic surged within the group. They had walked right into a trap, and now they were at the mercy of a bandit who had likely anticipated their every move.

DEVENA – "What do we do now?" [Her voice trembled with fear.]

[They gathered together in the dim light, eyes wide with terror as the cave felt smaller, more suffocating. A sense of impending doom hung over them, and the reality of their situation settled in.]

GIGI – "We can't give up. We have to find a way out!" [Her voice was shaky, but there was a glimmer of resolve in her eyes.]

But as they looked around the cave, darkness closed in around them, and the air felt heavy with the weight of their fears.

ALL FOUR PROTAGONISTS – "NOOO!" [Their voices echoed, the sound blending with the laughter of their enemy, who watched from afar, knowing they were trapped and helpless.]
