Chapter 3 - Teacher

My first year into this world isn't that eventful given the fact that I have been doing nothing but studying, the resources the library has provided for me isn't half bad but they could be better I guess.

I was at my usual spot and Mother Laurenzia is just sitting at the end of the table watching me which I find strange that she's giving me extra attention, yeah she is a attentive to the other kids but she particularly gives me more attention for some reason is it because of my blessing or maybe because of the event that has happened a year ago...

I just remembered a heavy presence crushing my body but it was all imaginary, then not long after I felt the weight focused on my chest as a single point, it hurt like hell making me pass out but before I do, I smelled the purest form of ocean water then everything went black.

I snapped back to reality as I watch Mother look at me with sadness in her eyes, while the auburn floor smells like rich and earthy the whole decorum of the library seems to imprint itself to me and the ones I interact with "My child I bear no ill will but yet you seem so distant with me... is it me that you are afraid of? or perhaps are you scared of yourself?"

I wanted to speak as the book rests over my lap...

"oh who am I kidding a one year old should not be able to assess what I meant yet those eyes of yours... they bore wisdom... maybe it is a fractal of the future... a vision perhaps..." she places her hands over her face as she began bawling, she cried for what felt like an hour yet it was only a whole minute.

the sobbing echoed through the empty halls of the library yet somehow it felt like music, she looked at me again with a smile as he green eyes seemed to glow as the sun hit her skin, she represents what a mother truly is I thought to myself... she was radiating elegance and poise yet I never questioned how she does it all too well...

turns out she was just pretending to be someone great... but I think I can live with that... a fake great mother... is better than a bad one...

I held onto my sleeve as I stood up and slowly walked towards her, I tugged on her blouse as she lifted me up her lap, and gave me the warmest smile "I always pray for you my child Asche... you are the first born I ever had ever since I became mother..." tears fell from her eyes as she looked down.

I can sense grief from her, I hugged her and she hugged me back whilst she tried to console me "oh to the god above... I pray that this child will be blessed by your benevolence... I offer my life even... if I could... I just wished I was able to save everyone back then...."

she placed me back down on the floor then she stood dusting her dress off then gave me a smile "I know you are a smart one Asche so please keep this a secret from everyone okay? I'm sorry you had to see mother like this..."

the sound of the turning page fills my ears again as I continued deciphering the language of this world... even what mother told me I struggled to translate at the top of my head but I heard she had some regrets and then she apologized to me for some reason, my heart ached for her.

I rubbed my head as I sat back down at the front of a shelf in between my piles of book, opening them promptly I watched out the window and see the other kids playing about on the grass fields that resembled a vast green ocean.

I leaned my head to one of the book piles and can't help myself but feel somber from how mother looked, why was I attached to her I barely know her and its only been a year yet... I felt as if daggers were piercing through the wounds of my little heart.

I slapped myself with both hands "I need to continue studying! these stupid feelings are gonna be the death of me I swear..." I instinctively said in English, i groaned as I the pages flutter from my finger tips as I flipped through them.

"I wonder if my best friend is also in this world... we did die together from that... wait vampire thing?" I rubbed the bridge of my nose contemplating whether I should do more research about my situation or just let it roll out on how it is gonna unfold.

A week has passed since the incident with Mother and I'm here just finding out that I will be expecting a tutor for specialized magic like the ones I apparently have.

"aren't specialized magic unique to the person who has it Mother?" I asked her as I set my book to the table before sitting in front of her.

"quite knowledgeable! yes in fact specialized magic are only possessed by single person in history or unless the god who controls that specific concept decided otherwise... like the heroes! there have only been 5 documented reports that they have possessed the light element! isn't it great? but her is the catch... they existed 250 years apart... and the last hero was born... 250 years ago..."

I tilted my head a bit in confusion as to what she just said, mother closed her book and packed her things before walking out "your tutor has arrived my child I pray you two would get along... given that you are probably hmm..." she stopped herself before scurrying off out the door.

that was strange I thought to myself but it made me wonder why would they want me to train in magic as early as possible, maybe its just a norm in this world?

an hour has passed and a woman with purple hair, red eyes, and a bite mark on her neck walked in with the sister beside her "she is a turned vampire from the magic academy and she is well versed in err..."

she smiled and placed her hand over her chest where her golden emblem hangs from necklace "It's paper magic Mother and I'm pleased to make the acquaintance of the little genius you have told me so much about." she has fair skin and dressed neatly appropriate for an instructor...

the Mother and Her seemed close

Mother smiled and nodded her head "it has been a while Elaine... I did not know you could still awaken specialized magic at a later age in life..." Elaine chuckled as she gently slapped Mother's arm "oh shush you! I am not that late into life besides... late awakening isn't unprecedented... but the blessing of an evil greater god is..."

Mother sighed as she held herself while looking at me, I looked at the marking at my arms and then back to Elaine "Child what is the name that you were given from birth...." I looked at her while I gripped onto the collar of my shirt from fear.

"A-Asche..." Elaina raised an eyebrow to mother which mother shrugged at in return "I feel like he has a vampiric heritage in his blood... do you want to-"

mother turned her head away "let us not speak of this for now... please just teach him magic since I am incapable ever since I have awakened as a Grand mother..." Elaine nodded as she closed her eyes before holding my hand into hers "we will see your affinity and as to what degree do you have power over your specialized magic..."

Mother stood at the back as the lady Elaine just held my hand for a solid 5 minutes, she then opened her eyes and nodded to mother "he has the talent to be my student congratulations Laurenzia! I will raise him into a fine young man."

mother rolled her eyes with a relieved smile on her face "do what you must to make him great!"

"Child come with me at the open field... one should not perform magic where it can kill people... only dipshits with no manners does that." she had a smirk over her face and as if her already waning elegant aura just disappeared when she is talking to her students.

I just nodded to whatever she is saying "Learning specialized magic is possible but nobody does that because its pointless! your body doesn't have the mana that synchronizes well with different specialized magic!" she said as we were walking out to the field

"it will consume your life essence instead of mana... and life essence is literally your lifespan..." she turned to look at me "your magic resembled the abyss way too much... so you really were hand picked by that god... his cores are notorious and is killed on the spot since they are able to destroy a country just by awakening once... awakening, erupting, or evolving."

I just nodded since I already know these stuff from my reading in the past

"an abyss core destroyed that country?" I asked as I looked at her, she nodded with a smirk "so you really can read the books at this place... you are a strange child..."
