Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Territory Upgrade

|Do you want to upgrade your territory?|

|Y/N|

I press the Y button and watch as the Palisade expands. My territory is getting bigger, huh? However, can I manually expand my territory? For example, building housing outside the wall.

|Ding!|

|You can do that. However, we do not recommend it, as many monsters can move underground. Anything outside your territory will not be protected from underground attack.|

Right. Those worms will be a problem for me. I cannot expand my territory manually because of them. Urgh. I shake my head and look at the new things I can build. There are four new buildings: (Job Altar), (Housing), (Farm), and (Storage).

New housing can be built alongside farms. The altar lets me summon a book that grants someone I summon a job. If they have a fighting-related job, I can send them to the barracks to train for their new job. Their power grows faster in the barrack, and they can upgrade their job to a higher form when they reach a certain level.

Storage is a place where we can store goods from farms or use resources in my territory, such as trees. The food from the lake will also expire at a very slow pace while in storage.

Usually, fish do not last a day before they go bad, but they will last at least a week without getting smoked or salted in storage.

Not only that, I can also upgrade the other buildings as well. I checked my inventory and saw that I had enough wood to upgrade my wall. With a click of a button, I can see the palisade change into a wall.

Unlike before, the wall is now five meters tall and wide enough for people to stand on it. Not only that, there are two towers. One is on the northeast of the wall, and the other one is on the southwest of the wall.

"My lord! Are you upgrading the territory?!"

I look to the side and see Richard running toward me. I nod and say.

"Yes. I have the resources to upgrade it and even have some left."

"I never heard of someone who upgraded their territories before the barrier even disappeared. You are truly one of the kind, my lord."

Most of the woods are coming from the trade. A lot of people are willing to buy water from me and they are willing to spend a lot of wood for them. I get a lot of water from all the monsters I kill, especially with the lure.

"Richard, which one should I make first? The job altar or the storage?"

"The altar. It is something you need, my lord. We might have a wall and the barrier still active, but it would be better if we had soldiers to defend against the incoming monsters."

Fair enough. After all, most of the food we have is on the card. For now, we can use the plants Richard cultivates as an immediate food source and the cards as an emergency food source.

I looked at the resources and found that I needed iron to build the altar. I release a sigh and open the shop. I press the buy button and walk toward the summoning gate. I press build and watch as a dark stone pillar appears in front of me. I put the altar next to the summoning gate.

When it is done, I touch the pillar and see a panel appear in front of me.

[Do you want to use the altar?]

[1x Summoning] [10x Summoning]

"Huh? Only nine thousand points for ten times summoning? That is cheap."

Richard laughs at those words and says.

"Only you who think of nine thousand points as cheap, my lord. People will do anything for that amount of points, especially this early in the timeline."

Well, I cannot blame him. With my three blessings, getting points is relatively easy. As long as I kill the enemies, my blessing will help me. Without hesitation, I press the ten times summoning button, and I watch as the pillar shines.

A few seconds later, ten cards appeared in front of me. I take them all and read the description.

|Fighter Class Book| |1 Star| (4x)

|Archer Class Book| |1 Star| (3x)

|Celestial Farmer Class Book| |5 Star|

|Cleric Class Book| |1 Star| (2x)

"Oooh!"

I look at Richard and say.

"Do you know about the stars in this book?"

"They are the grades of the books, my lord. There are six stars, and the bigger the stars, the rarer the job. Six stars cannot be trained in the barracks or any other military facilities. They can only appear from the altar."

"Right. Do you know what Celestial Farmer does?"

"It is the support job that lets someone be a Celestial Farmer. Celestial Farmers' jobs let them change the land in one territory into very fertile land that yields a massive amount of goods each harvest and increases the grade of the goods. A normal wheat is usually a common grade, but if a celestial farmer cultivates wheat, it will be at least a rare grade. Why do you ask, my lord? Wait! Don't tell me you…"

I give him a grin and show him the book.

"Yup. I got one. Luck shining down upon me and giving me this book. What do you think? Will you be my Celestial Farmer?"

He looks at me in shock before kneeling down in front of me.

"Thank you for this honor, my lord!"

"Please get up, Richard. You will not thank me when I work you to the bone."

Richard chuckles and says.

"Celestial Farmer will never tire as long as he is doing something related to his job."

"Right. Anyway, here. Change job, Richard."

After I say that, I watch the book disappear into his body, and I watch him shine. However, to my disappointment, his appearance does not change; only his bearing and aura change. I look at him and check his stats.

[Name: Richard]

[Job: Celestial Farmer (5 Stars)]

[Blessing: {Champion of Inari}]

[Skill: Farming (Yellow), Fertilizer Maker (Yellow) & Seed Maker (Yellow)]

[Job Skill: {Inexhaustible Stamina: Farm} & {Fertile Land}]

Holy moly! Richard gets a new blessing, two new skills, and two unique skills. I look at him and say.

"How are you, Richard?"

"I feel great, my lord!"

He smiles at me and checks his body.

"Can you explain the new skills and blessings to me?"

"Ah, right! The blessing let me summon twelve white foxes that will help me in my duty as a farmer. Not only that, but they are also powerful and able to defend the farm. Sadly, they cannot go too far away from the farm. This blessing also triples the yield of any harvest I perform. This blessing will also accelerate the growth of plants I cultivate, so it only takes a quarter of its original time to grow. Lastly, this blessing also guarantees all the goods I harvest to be at least Super Rare and have a ten percent chance to reach Mythical grade."

What?! That is unfair! All of my blessings only give me one effect, but he gets multiple of them at once. I know all of them are related to farming, but come on!

"What about your skills?"

"My farming skills now ensure the plants I care for will always grow even in a barren land or even the sand. Not only that, but it also increases the quality of the goods I harvest and yes. It is stacked with my blessing. The next one let me create a fertilizer from trash items. It is guaranteed to be at least magic grade, but if you give me relatively good trash, I can create a rare-grade fertilizer without a problem. The only downside is that this skill has a cooldown. I can only create fertilizer once every week. It is better to create a massive amount of them each time the cooldown is done."

He became my recycler, huh? Perfect.

"The Seed Maker has the same function but with seeds. The difference is that I can only create up to one hundred seeds, and I need a template for the seeds. That means you need to buy or search for the seeds before I can make them out of our trash."

"Right. That is easy enough."

"As for my job skills, they grant me unlimited stamina while doing farming activities, including defending the farm and the ability to make any land into VERY fertile land. The only downside is that it has a seven-day cooldown."

"Seven days, huh? That is not bad. That means, when we get another farmer, we can put them in one of those lands."

"That's right."

I form a plan, and after a few seconds, I nod and say.

"Let's get to work, Richard. We will have busy days ahead of us."
