Astrid and Goggy
Five years ago Goggy was just a Street rat in the Gamblers Hut Island. During the visit of a celestial Dragon he was captured along with many others to be served as a gift from the king of the kingdom to the celestial Dragon. When the time arrived the celestial Dragon killed more than half of them. He was one of the few who survived. But his fate was sealed, the moment the celestial Dragon decided to spare him.
For the rest of his life he was destined to suffer as a slave until he dies. But someone appeared who laughs at the face of destiny itself. He was saved by Maki later known as the demon lord.
She saved him and forced one of the marines to kill the celestial Dragon. It was for the first time he was seeing someone so powerful.
She became his idol. She had saved him without a care for the consequences. So Goggy decided to walk in the same path. He will save people regardless of the consequences.
So after he was left in another Island by his saviour, he started to train for a couple of months and send she started his journey. But by that time the demise of the demon king and the cancellation of her bounty has been declared by the world government. But it didn't harass him. Instead it inspired him even more.
He embarked on his journey to save and help the people in need.
On his way, he met another kindred spirit, named Astrid.
And after finding out that both of them have similar goals, they decided to band together.
Almost four and half years have passed since then. Somewhere in there journey, Goggy find out that he was called a Buccaneer. He didn't know exactly what it means. But the world government was taken an interest to him after finding about his status. When he received a bounty, it became very hard for them to work discreetly. So they went all out.
When the paradise became a very hard place to operate the decided to move to the new world.
But Goggy was very surprised to find his idol alive after all these years in this remote Island in the new world.
(AN: many people have forgotten about this. So I decided to write the background of two characters Goggy. Let me remind you that Astrid was the princess of the kingdom of Fagistaa, destroyed in the fight of Maki and Warcury. Maki decided to save him because she was the only survivor and gave him the logia type snow snow devil fruit before her departure. Similarly Goggy was the kid from Gamblers Hut Island in the West blue. I have an entire chapter named after him. Originally I was planning to use this characters as the sacrifices in the fight of Maki and the five elders before she gained her immortality. But then I decided to make him a Buccaneer and Kuma's grandfather. So I decided to save both of them. Now, they won't be permanent crew members. But that's all the spoilers I will give for now.)

""Let us join your pirate crew !"" I looked at the two teenagers begging me for letting them join my pirate crew.
"*Sigh* .... No." I sighed.
"Why not ?" Astrid, voiced her confusion.
"Why should I ? First, let me ask you a question, you want to save people right ?" I asked her.
"Yes." She replied.
"If you join me then you can't do that. My goal is to overthrow the world government and kill all the celestial Dragons. I don't care if I have to kill thousands of innocents in order to achieve that. Do you understand now. I am not a good person. And besides my plan as very long term. By the time it comes to fruition, you will be long dead." I told them. Joining me was not a very good thing for them. They could achieve their goal on their own.
"But....but you saved me !" Goggy was shocked after hearing my reply.
"No, my man goal was to kill the celestial Dragon. You were just lucky to be there." I reply harshly. I didn't want them to face the danger that I was about to face. Not to mention taking them in will be very risky. Especially if the world government found out then their life will be in main danger.
"Then can you please train us ! We promise that we won't take extra time. You can teach us while travelling. After we learn enough to survive we will leave your crew.
In exchange you can have this devil fruit." My eyes widened in shock when Astrid took out a very familiar devil fruit. It was none other than gura gura no mi.
I quickly masked my emotions and asked them. "Why don't you eat it yourself ? If I am not wrong then that's a very powerful paramicia type devil fruit." I asked Goggy.
"Sorry, I can't do that. Astrid is a devil fruit user, and I must be able to swim in order to fish her out in case she ends up in sea. And apart from that I don't want to lose my ability to swim either." Goggy replied.
"Are you sure. Let me tell you, that devil fruit is gura gura no mi. The paramicia type fruit with the power to create earthquakes and tsunamis. This devil fruit, combined with your strong body, might make you the most powerful man in the world. Are you sure you still don't want to eat it." I asked him.
"No." To my surprise, Goggy didn't even think about it.
"I want to help and save people. I don't want power to destroy. I just want to be strong enough so that people can rely on me. I don't want the strength to destroy the world."
"What's your name again ?" I asked him. While I have seen the bounty poster of Astrid, I have never seen the bounty poster of this brat. And from his physique, I have a doubt that he might be the ancestor of the best father in the multiverse.
"Goggy, Goggy Buccaneer."
'No wonder. It seems that kindness at something that runs through Kuma's blood.' I thought and made up my mind.
"Fine... I will take the fruit and in exchange, I will train you two, to become strong enough that you will be able to protect and save people." Both of them smiled at me.
