Chapter 50 - Test result

For the rest of the day, Kamsi's thoughts were occupied by none other than Xavier. She couldn't help but replay his bold declaration in her mind. Was he serious, or just toying with her? If he meant it, what had prompted him to say such a thing? When had these feelings started—if they were even real? Or was this just another display of possessiveness?

Her train of thought was interrupted by a soft tap on her shoulder. A junior student stood before her, relaying a message. "Mr. Felix asked you to meet him in his office for your test results."

Kamsi inwardly scolded herself for her forgetfulness. This is xavier's fault she thought bitterly, blaming her friend for distracting her earlier. But deep down, she knew the true culprit—the boy who had hijacked her thoughts.

She found herself at Mr. Felix's door, her hand hesitating mid-air before knocking softly. A firm "Come in" sounded from inside, and she pushed the door open, stepping in cautiously. She greeted him with a small bow, her heart thudding against her chest.

Mr. Felix wore a serious expression as he motioned for her to sit. The weight of his gaze made her stomach twist uncomfortably. Did she do poorly? she wondered, dread creeping in. No that was impossible -I finished the test before time and double-checked my work

But just as she braced herself for bad news, his stern expression softened into a warm grin. "Well done, Miss Chibuike," he said, his voice carrying an unmistakable note of pride. "You've surpassed my expectations."

Kamsi blinked in confusion. "I... I did?"

Mr. Felix chuckled lightly and slid her test paper across the desk. Her breath hitched as her eyes landed on the bold red number at the top of the page: 98%

Her jaw dropped. For a moment, she simply stared at the score, her mind refusing to process what she was seeing. Then the realization hit her like a tidal wave. She had done it. She had not only passed but excelled—by far surpassing her previous scores.

"Keep up the good work," Mr. Felix encouraged, his smile genuine.

"Thank you, sir!" she finally managed to squeak, her voice trembling with excitement.

Walking out of his office, Kamsi could barely contain herself. She wanted to scream, to run, to share the news with everyone. Her chest felt light, as if she could float. A grin stretched across her face as she replayed the scene in her head.

This is all thanks to Gilbert… and Xavier.

The thought of the latter caused her steps to falter for a brief moment. She bit her lip, trying to suppress the smile that tugged at her lips. No matter how much she wanted to deny it, Xavier's presence had motivated her in ways she couldn't yet explain.

Still buzzing with happiness, she made a silent promise. She owed Gilbert a nice lunch for his help. But as for Xavier… she had no idea how to repay him—or even if she should.

The hallway stretched ahead of her, and for the first time in a long while, it didn't feel intimidating. It felt like hers to conquer.

As she walked down the hall in a daze of happiness, she spotted Zendaya, her best friend. "Zendaya!" Kamsi called out, waving.

But Zendaya didn't share her joy. She looked distraught, her face a mixture of concern and something else Kamsi couldn't quite place.

Kamsi's smile faltered. "Zendaya, what's wrong?" she asked, walking up to her friend.

Zendaya hesitated for a moment, before pulling her aside. "I've been looking for you, Kamsi. We need to talk."

She dragged Kamsi down the hallway to an empty classroom, her grip tight on Kamsi's wrist.

"Tell me," Kamsi insisted, her worry growing. "What's going on?"

"Well…" Zendaya started slowly, and Kamsi noticed her tone was heavy with unspoken words. "It's about Xavier."

Kamsi's heart skipped a beat. What about Xavier?

"His declaration," Zendaya finally blurted out. "It's all over the school. The fangirls are going crazy."

At that, Kamsi froze. She hadn't expected this. "What do you mean?"

Zendaya took a deep breath, glancing over her shoulder as if making sure no one was listening. "They're saying he announced you as his... his girl. And now they're all hunting you down."

Meanwhile, Gilbert had wandered into the hallway and found a group of girls in a chaotic frenzy, shouting at each other, tears streaming down their faces.

"Are you serious? He's with her?!" one of them cried. "How could he choose *her*?"

Gilbert rolled his eyes, shaking his head. "As expected." He muttered to himself, unable to keep the amusement from his face.

"I told you this would happen," he said, addressing Damon, who had walked up beside him, wearing his signature smirk.

Damon shrugged, his usual cocky attitude firmly in place. "Every fangirl of Xavier is going crazy. But don't worry," he added with a wink, "I, Damon, will be here to nurse their broken hearts."

Gilbert snorted. "Of course you will."

Suddenly, the sound of frantic footsteps grew louder. Gilbert and Damon turned to see a growing mob of girls charging down the hallway.

"Where is she?" one of the fangirls yelled. "Find her!"

Their leader—one of the more vocal girls—pointed to the door. "She's hiding somewhere! She won't get away!"

The mob started to split up, searching every room, knocking on doors.

Damon sighed, rolling his eyes. "Well, this is about to get interesting."

Back with Kamsi, her eyes widened as she realized the situation was far more intense than she had thought. She could hear the distant roar of the fangirls outside the classroom. Panic started to seep into her veins.

"Wait," she said, grabbing Zendaya's arm. "They're actually searching for me?"

Zendaya nodded. "And they won't stop until they find you. You might want to stay hidden until things die down."

Kamsi's thoughts swirled. She hadn't asked for any of this. She had no idea how to navigate the chaos Xavier's declaration had caused.

But before she could respond, the door to the classroom burst open, and the mob was just a few steps away.
