Councilor Kaida stood up from her seat. Standing before the two group, her expression was serious. "Your missions are crucial to the academy's interest. Group two Consisting of Kael, Elara, Aria, Sheila, and Cristina, will investigate strange energy readings in the remote region of Zenith-4. Your objective is to gather data and determine the source of the energy."
A holographic display appeared beside her, Councilor Kaida gestured to a holographic map of Zenith-4, projected in the center of the room. "As you can see, Zenith-4 is a vast and unforgiving terrain. The planet's surface is divided into four quadrants, each with its unique challenges and dangers."
She pointed to the first Quadrant. "The Aether Wastes: A vast desert region filled with toxic sandstorms and treacherous terrain. The sand itself can be deadly, capable of slicing through armor and flesh with ease. Let's not forget about the beast roaming the sand, though they are all low tier beast, they still pose much of a threat to you all."
Next, she indicated the second quadrant. "The Crystal Caves: A labyrinthine network of tunnels and caverns filled with razor-sharp crystals and treacherous pitfalls. The crystals can also amplify and manipulate energy, making it a dangerous place for specialist."
The third quadrant was her next focus. "The Gravity Swamps: a region where the planet's gravity is in constant flux, making it difficult to navigate and manipulate objects. The swamp are also home to deadly creatures that can manipulate gravity themselves."
Finally, she pointed to the fourth quadrant. "The Quantum Jungle: a region where the laws of physics are constantly shifting and reality is in flux. It's a place where the fabric of space-time is fragile, and even the slightest mistakes can have catastrophic consequences."
Councilor Kaida's expression turned grave. "Each quadrant has its unique dangers, and you will need to be prepared to face them head-on. I remind you once more, your mission is to investigate the energy and determine their source. But be warned, Zenith-4 is unforgiving, and even the slightest mistake can be fatal."
"With all this said, are you sure you would still go, with Aria Reid absent!" She said scanning the faces of the students.
Before anyone could chime in, Kael suddenly spoke up. "Of course we can, Aria should just stay and rest."
"Fine," Councilor Kaida then turned to the second group. "Group one, consisting of Kai, Lirien, Eryndor, Phoebe, and Monica, will retrieve a valuable artifact from the ruins of Zeridian. Your objective is to bring it back to the academy"
The holographic display changed, this time showing the terrain of Zeridian. Councilor Kaida's expression turned somber as she addressed the group. "The ancient ruin of Zeridian hold many secrets and dangers. You will need to be cautious and prepared for what lies within."
She paused scanning the group. "As you venture deeper into the ruin of Zeridian, you may encounter ancient traps and puzzles designed to test your skills and wisdom. Some of these traps are deadly, so you must work together to overcome them.
She gestured to the holographic image of the ruin, highlighting specific areas. "The ruin is divide into three main sections: The Temple of the sun, the Hall of whispers, and the Chamber of Ancients. Each section holds a piece of the artifact you seek, but be warned, the ruin is guarded by powerful entities and ancient magical wards."
Her voice took on a grave tone. "You may also encounter visions and whispers from the ancient civilization that once inhabited Zeridian. These whispers can be deceiving and dangerous, so you must remain focused and vigilant.
Councilor Kaida's eyes locked onto Kai's. Remember, the artifacts you seek is powerful, and those who seek to claim it must first prove themselves worthy. You must work together, trust each other, and use your unique skills to overcome the challenges that lie ahead."
She handed each group a data pad with more information and maps of their respective mission areas. "Study your data pads, and prepare accordingly. You will depart at dawn tomorrow."
…
Kael's group gathered in the academy's strategy room, pouring over the data pad and discussing their plan of action. Elara suggested a stealthy approach, while Sheila opted for a more direct strategy. Cristina analyzed the energy readings, trying to pinpoint the source.
"We should be prepare for anything," Kael said, "We don't know what we'll face in Zenith-4"
"Hey!" Elara said as she approached Kael, "Do you think is okay to do this without Aria, you know how strong he is and how much of a help he might be."
"Well Aria is unconscious now! We have no choice but to do this without him." Kael said, his voice low but cold.
Meanwhile, Kai's group was in the academy's armory, selecting weapons and gear for their mission. Lirien went over and chose a grappling hook and a long jian, while Eryndor opted for a sniper Rifle. Phoebe and Monica selected various gadgets and tools as well.
Lirien then walked over to Eryndor, who was silently testing his rifle and checking for problems. "Where the hell where you this past few days."
"Family problems!" Eryndor replied silently, pulling the trigger of the rifle as it made a bang, destroying the wall he just shot at.
'Family problems! That's it?' Lirien thought as he looked at the crumbling wall. He then turned and glanced at the map.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," Lirien said, eyeing the ancient ruin' layout on the data pad.
…
The two groups stood outside the Academy, ready to the depart for their missions. Councilor Kaida addressed them once more. "Remember, your mission is crucial to the academy's interest. Work together, trust each other, and may the odds be with you. The chopper will be dropping you directly at the entrance of your respective locations. It is up to you what happens after that."
With that, the groups set off in opposite direction directions, each thinking about the challenges and uncertainties they were about to face. Kael's group journeyed to Zenith-4 while Kai's group headed to the Ruins of Zeridian.
As they departed, Aria's condition weighed heavily on Kael's mind. Would they be able to complete their mission without their friend? And what the hell lay ahead for Kai's group in the ancient ruin? Lirien thought, staring at the ground below them.
