Chapter 47 - Jade Token

Buzz!

Holding the key in his right hand, Yone heard a buzzing sound before his vision went black.

When he opened his eyes sluggishly, he found himself collapsed on the bed, his head aching and his body trembling.

As he got up, he tried to remember what happened just before he suddenly lost consciousness.

"Was it that key I earned from the system's reward?" Yone muttered, clutching his head in pain as he recalled the cause of his current state.

"It seems I don't have enough strength to even touch it, let alone understand anything about it," he sighed, glancing around the room in search of the key.

He spotted it in a corner of the hotel room. With unsteady steps, he rose from the bed and touched the key with his index finger, muttering under his breath, "System, store this in my inventory."

The key vanished immediately after he spoke, reappearing in his empty inventory.

Sighing in relief, Yone checked his panel as he moved out of the room.

Host: Yone Danci.

Cultivation Realm: Fourth layer of foundation establishment realm.

Cultivation Method: Devour - Unknown Grade./ Thousands-Arms

Mystical Talents: Body Alteration Cultivation Technique- Basic / Shadow Escape Movement Technique- Basic]

Inventory Items: ??? Key ???

Missions Available: None

Reminder: Host is three missions away from upgrading the system and unlocking a new feature!

Yone nodded in satisfaction as he read through everything. He was curious about the new feature the system mentioned and looked forward to unlocking it.

Even though he saw the system as a supporting tool—since the cultivation process depended entirely on him—he still found it incredibly useful for increasing his speed.

He couldn't help but think that the inheritance was meant to be a treasure trove, filled with resources he would gradually earn as he progressed on his journey.

When he opened the room's door, he felt a bit of resistance from the other side.

He casually forced it open and glanced around, discovering that the cause of the resistance was a few plates of food and some water.

Feeling a bit hungry and thirsty, he squatted down and quickly devoured the food with his bare hands, gulping down a liter of water like someone who hadn't eaten or drunk in days.

"That felt good," Yone thought as he headed downstairs, collected his money from the receptionist, and walked out of the hotel.

He received two spiritual stones back, indicating that a day's stay, along with all the amenities, cost one spiritual stone.

"Seems like cultivators have it tough in this region," he thought to himself.

If a single day's stay cost one spiritual stone, Yone didn't want to imagine the resources and expenses needed for cultivators to accelerate their training.

He was also surprised to notice the darkening sky.

Night had fallen, and the spring moon hung in the sky, shaped like a bow. Clouds obscured the moonlight, shrouding the crescent moon with a thin veil.

Seems like I blanked out for an entire day...

Yone muttered to himself, but he didn't linger. He made his way across the street to a stall owner to ask about the location of Sword Cliff.

***

A towering ancient building, tens of meters tall, stood in the northern part of Lake City. Its immense size was so intimidating that no one dared to come within a hundred meters of it.

Two guards in white garb stood at the gigantic gates. Their aura gave off the impression of veteran warriors, identical to the imperial guards of many ancient kingdoms.

Despite standing still without moving an inch, their eyes roamed everywhere, staring daggers at any who dared match their gaze longer than a split second.

Yet, in this intimidating place, a child around the age of seven suddenly appeared.

"Peak of foundation establishment!"

Yone muttered as he walked toward the gate. While he had no problem facing such imposing guards, he knew they would not let him pass without an identity check and a clear purpose for his visit.

"Stop!"

One of the guards barred Yone's path," Sword Cliff Sect is not a place for you to wonder about!"

"I ask that you check this jade token and think properly about your next words," Yone eyes didn't even look at them as he said codly.

He no longer felt the need to act like a child. Chester was the fourth-ranked elder in the sect, and no one in this city could overpower him or deny his authority.

Yone's cold demeanor was fully on display at this moment, with a faint trace of his killing intent flickering now and then.

The two guards exchanged a surprised glance, and, feeling the killing intent radiating from the boy, they both swallowed nervously as they checked the jade token.

Lake City wasn't short of people coming to join the sect or do business with the outer elders at this branch.

But every one of those people had been fearful, often groveling when speaking to them. This was the first time they had encountered such an arrogant child.

However, they knew this child was far from ordinary, given the killing intent he radiated.

'How is a kid who just stepped into the path of cultivation have such oppressive killing intent!' Both of the guards were momentarily in shock as they thought about that.

Although Yone emitted a faint killing intent to seem like someone not to be trifled with, the guards still felt it was far too intense for someone his age.

"This jade token, who gave it to you!" One of the guards questioned with caution, his voice not raised just in case the unexpected occurred and that person indeed ordered this kid to come and meet him.

Yone gaze swiftly shifted for a moment to look at the guards," Inner Elder Chester, now let me in, I have urgent matters to attend to!"

Hearing the kid's words and meeting his cold gaze, the guards didn't make it hard for Yone as they opened the gates.

It was obvious that the jade order could only be given by Inner Elder Chester, it was just a routine to ask the question.

If something happened inside and it turned out the individual was faking the token or lying, only death would await him, and none of the elders in the branch would blame the guards for allowing him into the sect's territory.
