Chapter 5 - Amber Extraction System

' Oh, what is this thing.' Yone rubbed his chin, trying to analyze the transparent magic that appeared in front of him.

He repeatedly waved his right hand, trying to dispel the blue panel in front of him. Yet, no matter how many times he tried, it stubbornly hovered in place.

Before he could fully grasp the situation, several more panels appeared, displaying messages unlike anything he had ever seen before. To be precise, he had encountered something vaguely similar in the past, but those were merely writings formed by ordinary Amber, commonly used for inscriptions.

[ Congratulations! You have activated the Amber Extraction System. ]

[ You can now extract and obtain mystical properties of this world. ]

This was the first message he saw followed by a different panel.

[ You have died and got reincarnated into a higher realm multiple times stronger than yours. ]

[ Given your circumstances and shrouded fate, an Ancient Being long forgotten inheritance found its way to your soul.]

[ Remarks: The system is but an ancient inheritance thus it's not a special lifeform. If you want to get any information, you need to ask first, or else the system can't provide you with anything on its own. ]

"Huh? Amber Extraction System? Ancient Being long forgotten inheritance?" Yone had a hard time digesting the information he was provided with.

Even with his vast experience and standing, Yone found it hard to believe what he was seeing. He was truly dumbfounded.

If what he was witnessing was genuine—and it wasn't outside the realm of possibility—it was on the same level as reincarnation. That's how terrifying it felt.

"Well, considering I can't dispel it no matter how many times I try, it might actually be real," he muttered, rubbing his eyes vigorously—something he never imagined himself doing. He even felt a bit embarrassed by the act. Yet, despite his efforts, the panel remained. This wasn't an illusion.

After brushing away the earlier panels with his hands, a few more writings appeared before him.

[You can only extract things out of dead lifeforms you personally killed, the host should remember this! ]

Seeing the follow-up message, Yone realized he had no choice but to accept reality once again.

Even though it was hard to believe—especially after just being reincarnated—he wasn't delusional. He knew he couldn't escape the situation in front of him.

' Aghh, I'll just sleep and see if this is still here the next morning. This is too much to think about on the same day as martial arts being forbidden from us to use.' He yawned and fell to the bed, closing his eyes in hopes of getting some sleep.

***

Ring, Ring, Ring.

The Adventure's association golden bell rang in a rhythm.

The sounds echoed throughout the village, even reaching the outskirts of the houses installed in the forest.

Yone slowly opened his dry eyelids, his heart whispering, "It's already dawn, the sun will rise soon."

He had been lying awake for most of the night, running through countless plans to get his hands on some martial arts. If he had to guess, he only managed to sleep for about two hours.

His body hadn't begun cultivating martial arts yet, so his energy wasn't vigorous. The exhaustion from his lack of sleep still weighed heavily on both his mind and body.

Yet, with 300 years of experience behind him, Yone had long developed a deep, steel-like determination. This kind of sleep-deprived exhaustion was nothing he couldn't handle.

Immediately, Yone shoved the thin blanket off and got up neatly. He opened the window, noticing that the spring rain had stopped.

A blend of earthy fragrances, mixed with the scent of trees and wildflowers, greeted him. The fresh air cleared his head, washing away the last traces of sleepiness.

The sun was about to rise, and the sky was a deep, dark blue—neither fully dark nor bright yet.

Looking around, the tall houses made of wood and stone stood in contrast to the natural environment surrounding the village.

" It seems that these cheap constructions in villages never change, no matter which world you find yourself in." Yone mused as he enjoyed the view in front of him.

The tall houses had at least two floors, typical for the village's tallest building. If his family weren't a fallen noble house, they wouldn't have secured themselves a three-floor building with such an outstanding view, covering the entire village- a view that everyone envied in this village.

" Yone, my beautiful son, you are awake. I will go upstairs and dress you up after your bath." At this moment, his mother's voice floated up from downstairs.

Coincidently, his name was exactly the same as in his past life. a fact that he was delighted with.

Looking down, Yone saw his own mother - Lilia.

" Good morning Mother," He greeted with a bright smile adorning his face, making him look even cuter than ever.

Lilia's beauty was far beyond that of an average woman which was even enhanced by her elegant dresses, a proof of her prior noble status. She wore a red robe with long sleeves and trousers, had embroidered shoes on her feet and her black hair had a pearl hairpin. Her body from head to toe radiated youthful vitality.

She looked happily at Yone while carrying a covered box that had just been delivered to their door, and walked upstairs.

Taking the time it took his mother to reach his room and wait for him to open the door, he used this opportunity to check on something he wished was true and ignored the past night as he thought about different more important things.

' Sigh... This is something I have to do,' He thought with some lingering hope,' If this works, things will totally change from here on.'

His eyes shone with a bright light for a split of a second before he uttered.

" Amber Extraction System, come out!" He immediately felt the urge to take his own life after saying these words aloud. Thankfully he controlled himself, or he would have done something the normal he would never do on normal days.

"Breathe, Yone, breathe," he reminded himself with mild annoyance. "This is something you need to do and face, or you'll never know if it's real or not."

After reassuring himself multiple times, he waited.

Though the internal conversation felt lengthy, in reality, it all happened in the blink of an eye. To the outside world, only a brief moment had passed.

And then, something occurred that made Yone feel a hundred times better.

"I guess it really is genuine and not just a hallucination," Yone thought, a devilish smirk curling at his lips.
