Chapter 33 - Identification Card

Sara looked at him with a knowing gaze, understanding that he was likely a kid raised in some unknown village deep within the forest or beyond it.

Her father, given her identity as the heir of the Albon clan had placed a lot of importance on her knowledge, especially the powers she should be wary of, and others who she could afford to offend and not. Hence, her knowledge ran deep when it came to Lake City and Snow Lake Nation in general.

"The Sword Cliff Sect is located in the northern region of the Snow Lake Nation. Although it is not the strongest sect in the Snow Lake Nation, it still has quite some reputation and influence in the surrounding region." She paused momentarily, giving Yone time to digest the information, and continued unhurriedly.

"Overlord of the Northern Region. That was what people normally referred to as the Sword Cliff Sect. Even though it is considered the weakest of the four regions, it is still the fourth strongest sect in the Snow Lake Nation."

"Romeo which Albert earlier spoke about with Raven, who attacked our carriage this morning is one of the outer elders of the Sword Cliff Sect. As to why a foundation establishment realm cultivator has tilted an elder in such a sect with deep heritage."

Sara sighed as she thought about her family's crisis and the severity of Romeo's personal attack on them.

"It's mainly because of his grandfather. After realizing his grandson's lack of talent—stuck in the first realm for almost half his life—he gave Romeo that position, making him run errands for the sect that higher-cultivation elders usually frown upon.

"Despite being a titled elder with such weak cultivation—where almost all the inner and core disciples have a higher cultivation base—no one dares to disrespect or ridicule him publicly, fearing his grandfather's wrath. His grandfather is one of the strongest sword users in the entire sect and is ranked fourth in raw strength among the inner elders."

"As for the strength of the sect itself, at present, Sword Cliff Sect has only five people in the bone-tempering realm: the sect master, the vice sect master, and two other inner elders."

Yone felt a little bewildered at learning his current status, but he quickly became excited. With the system's help, he had been reincarnated into a world more powerful than his previous one. Although being weak disturbed him now, he knew he would soon change that.

Sara, on the other hand, grew tired of explaining and told Yone she would give him a few books her father had forced her to read a couple of years ago. These books were mainly about the powers of Snow Lake Nation in general and those who should never be provoked under any circumstances.

"We're finally in the city," Sara exclaimed, a smile brightening her cute little face.

She was exhausted from walking the past hour since they had to leave the horses behind for safety. With Yone constantly making her talk and remember his instructions, she felt even more physically and mentally fatigued.

As they exited the forest, a massive stone wall about thirty meters in height came into Yone's view. He counted about fifty men stationed across the wall, all ready to take action if any ferocious beast or enemy attacked. The most striking thing was that about ten of them radiated the aura of the Qi condensing realm!

He knew the city would be well-protected since it bordered the Elinar Kingdom, but this was a lot!

Though during his encounter with that ferocious beast and its abnormal strength, killing Albert with a single attack, the protection seemed to be reasonable.

Subsequently, Yone grew inwardly excited!

It was his time to enter a city in this world, and he couldn't wait to explore it

Getting on the long line of people and carriages, Yone and Sara waited, until it was their turn.

Unlike the small village Yone had been reincarnated into, Lake City was far more developed and fortified. As he and Sara approached, they noticed a small building attached to the city's massive stone wall. This structure was positioned right before the enormous metal gate, which matched the height of the towering wall itself.

"Show me your ID," a burly middle-aged man in ordinary black armor—the likely uniform of the city guards—demanded in a strict tone. His bored expression made it clear he had repeated this lines countless times before.

"I don't have one " Yone replied with his eyebrows arched. He didn't even know what an ID was.

Sara sighed helplessly beside him. She had anticipated this, but there was no need for her to intervene. Creating an ID was a straightforward process, and the guards rarely made it difficult for kids their age.

Noticing the questioning gaze Yone was giving her, Sara briefly whispered in his ears.

"An ID is an identity card, a card used to verify a person's identity," She paused for a moment, thought of another detail, and continued," As for why kids like us should have one, it is because the talent test age of entry is seven years old, hence since we began our journey of cultivation the kingdoms will also have us make an ID."

After Sara's explanation, Yone realized that this world might actually be more terrifying than he initially thought.

In his past world, power was everything, and every Amber Maste could enter or leave any city freely without anyone disturbing him or asking about his origins.

Strength was everything!

Given their overwhelming strength, countless people, especially those with lower cultivation bases, wouldn't even dare to meet their gaze, let alone ask for an ID or whatever this world has come up with.

However, Yone knew that enforcing this ID system wouldn't be feasible without the presence of these god-like entities who controlled the kingdoms and were well-known to the masses.

He was certain that some cultivators had likely disregarded this rule in the past, however, their submission now was primarily due to the personal intervention of these powerful individuals—or even members of the royal family—who had taken action to subdue any defiance.
