Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: A MAN'S TRUE NATURE

Alex opened the door suddenly. He had heard a crash and despite his hate for the old man, he still had his duty to do. The scene before him looked serious yet hilarious at the same time. The old man stood imposing while the other lay on the carpeted ground begging for mercy. He didn't laugh though. The tension in the room stopped him from doing so.

Suddenly, two bots burst into the room through the window. One kicked Alex straight out of the room before he could even react. The other headed straight for Allen. Allen smirked again. 'This fool' he thought as he dodged the bots kick. He went low and shot the bot in the abdomen. The bot skipped away then looked at the damage done to its abdomen. Allen looked at it humorlessly, ' Look at it trying to pretend to feel pain' he thought disgustedly. He was about to attack it but the other bot jumped before him and began to throw punches at him. Again Allen smiled.

Allen was born in the AL's house main branch. In truth, he had everything any child in a post apocalyptic world could ever ask for, money, food shelter and protection. However, to him, it was boring and useless. He found living a sheltered life tedious and exhausting. Living up to his father's expectations was another thing that constantly weighed heavily in his head. That was until he got kidnapped by mercenaries at the tender age of thirteen.

No, he allowed himself to be kidnapped. The father searched high and low for his son but never found him. He appeared one day, ten years later, in front of his father. He went down on his knees and begged his father for forgiveness. His father, happy to have his son back, gladly welcomed him home and forgave him. He never pried to what had happened to him in those years he had been missing. There was one thing, however, that disturbed him, his son's brutal psychotic nature. At first it was there for everyone to see. But as he years rolled by, he became adept at hiding it. His dark brutal psychotic and monstrous nature. He only showed it on few occasions. This was one of those occasions.

Even now in his old age, he could let loose. His smirk turned into a full blown maniacal smile so scary that the bots stepped back in hesitation. He didn't let them.

This time he lunged at the two bots and stood between them. He shot one in the knee joint, took out a leza knife from his pocket and sliced the other on the neck. He swiftly changed the weapons hands and this time, shot where he'd sliced blowing the bots lower jaw, then stabbed the other one's core. He pulled out the knife then shot where he'd stabbed effectively destroying the core. He pulled the arm of the remaining bot and grabbed its head, stabbed its eye and emptied the gun on its core. Everything happened in less than a minute.

" I thank you for letting me have a feast this time, Alexus", Allen said wiping his knife. " If you had offered such entertainment for me we wouldn't be here but ..., " he continued in a calm cold tone as he walked towards Alexus. Unbridled fear made Alexus become a sad excuse for a human being. Frothing in the mouth he shouted ," NO! SHTOP! I'M SHORRY FORGIF ME" his shouts falling on deaf ears. Allen came up to him and said quietly," You'll make quite the punching bag". Alexus lost consciousness. Allen sighed then let out a low whistle. A bot came and grabbed the unconscious man and walked away.

" Shall we go...Alex," he said in a quiet tone. Alex sprung up from his crouching position at the door's left side. He had seen the whole thing. He was thoroughly impressed. " Yes sir," he replied and led the way out. That night, the Alexus' branch family was captured and the main castle set ablaze.

Albert looked at the next matches' schedule angrily. The ītha bots were being replaced by the well seasoned Thatū bots. He had protested twice to the match creators of Unda. No one had bothered to listen to him. They were jealous that suddenly, House AL had become too popular. Fortunately there were some who agreed with him. In the end, they allowed the Ītha bots to continue competing. This pleased Albert but he didn't show it.

Meanwhile in the prison..

A robot had guided the four and the old man upstairs to the second level of the prison. It led them through a small corridor and, finding the correct room, stood in front of it and waited. The leza beams turned off and they were allowed to enter.

The room was no different from the one they'd spent the night in. It was only slightly larger and had five beds spread out across the room. There was a tightly squeezed in bathroom . " My bed is the one at the corner," shouted Mwas to which Kim argued," No way that's my bed," he also shouted. Both boys glared at each other, daring each other for the bed. " That bed will belong to Shiru since she's the only girl here," the old man intervened in a weathered face. Both boys agreed reluctantly.

Shiru smiled. She still couldn't get over the fact that she was beaten to a pulps a few hours ago. Thanks to the female bot. Slowly she went to the already made bed, entered it and covered herself completely. 'This had to be a nightmare', she thought sadly.

Mwas clicked his tongue and headed to the bathroom. He was still dirty from the fight earlier. An uneasy quietness settled in the room. "So why did you choose me to come here with you,"? the old man asked, his voice deep in concern. Thia spoke up," Well its because you looked familiar as if I'd seen you before but can't recall where," he said innocently. The old man looked at him and smiled," Thanks " he said.

The old man had lied. This was the one place he didn't want to be in. That's because he was a former priest in the House of AL. He didn't want to be here but it was only a matter of time before they finally found him...
