Matilda had hurriedly returned to the dining room after dropping off Savannah in Davian's room, her smile stretching her lips.
Now all she needed to do was wait for the signal from Arthur so they could move to the next step.
If she had calculated right, she should be getting a call from the butler right about…
The door to the dining room opened, startling her because she hadn't been expecting a visitor.
At first, Matilda's brows dropped low on her head, thinking it was her daughter, only to shoot to her feet when she saw Arthur.
"What are you doing?" She demanded at the sight of the butler with the laundry basket in hand.
"This wasn't part of the plan!" She took a couple of steps back as she spoke, fear creeping into her eyes. "Why did you come here?"
Arthur just pushed the basket to a corner, his expression grim.
"The plan has gone to shit," He said in a calm tone that belied the meaning of his words.
