With the kind of day they had both had, he had intended on taking a shower - preferably one with his mate - and going right to bed.
But now it was late at night and they were both the furthest from falling asleep.
"I know that," Asher finally spoke, sounding nothing like himself.
He sounded like a sad, beaten-down version of himself, and Caspian hated to hear it.
"…but I wanted to hear it again. I wanted some reassurance and I chose the wrong time, and the wrong way to say it. Then I ran off and went to get drunk…"
Caspian was speechless for a few seconds after Asher's tirade, he hadn't expected his mate to be so expressive.
Was it the alcohol after all?
Asher rubbed a hand over his face, letting out a deep sigh. "I'm sorry for all that…"
Caspian moved closer almost subconsciously, standing in between Asher's legs.
