If Asher had thrown away that much money without a second thought, it meant that he would be well off when it was time for him to leave - he was starting to see sense in Jenny's words.
When he had planned to move to the city, he hadn't pictured selling off his virginity and innocence to start a new life but it hadn't done much for him to begin with, he would be better off selling it.
An hour passed and it was clear that Asher wasn't returning. He had really ditched his room for him to sleep in - Noah would have thrown a fit if anyone had so much as suggested he do the same…
Caspian gently laid down, getting under the blankets as well. So much had happened since he came to Haines City that he hadn't even gotten the chance to think about Moonstone.
He couldn't help but wonder what was going on in his absence. Did they even notice he was gone? Did they even care? Even if it was to force him to return to his life of being a prisoner?
He didn't want to know, he hoped to never return to Moonstone again… If he survived his current predicament that is.
It was easy to push aside his thoughts of his past, focusing on his plan to make a fool of a Mafia King, the very thing he had been told not to do.
He needed to speak more so the first thing he did was practice pitching his voice higher without it coming out forced.
He would also need a new name, preferably something similar sounding to Caspian. Something like… Cassia.
Caspian didn't fall asleep until very late, busy scheming. His wrist was still cuffed but it was fur-lined so he wasn't in too much discomfort.
He woke up the next morning with a lurch, sitting up fully for a few seconds before realizing that his wrist was free.
He panicked for a bit after that, worried that Asher had been in the room while he was asleep and his plan had already crumbled before he could begin.
A maid stepped out of the bathroom then, holding the dirty dress that he had folded on the sink the night before.
"Oh, you're up," She said cheerily. "The boss let me have the key to your cuffs so you can move around."
Caspian unconsciously rubbed his wrist, wisely remaining quiet. It was far easier for women to tell his gender.
He had already been lucky once with one maid, he wasn't going to take the risk with another.
"I'm done here so you can freshen up in the bathroom," She explained, her voice more subdued when he didn't return her energy.
Caspian wasn't given the chance to feel bad that he couldn't be nice to the maid who meant well, her next words stunning him.
"The boss has ordered a new wardrobe for you, and it should be here in a few hours. Alpha Asher wants you to be dressed by eight PM, for a function." She tried smiling again, certain that the Omega would feel flattered.
The boss never brought women home, and he never took them to functions so there must be something really special about this one.
It was why she was trying to be friends, it was the least she could do to someone who the boss seemed to like this much.
The Omega didn't share her sentiments however, all the blood draining from her face, her eyes wide in horror, a reaction that belied the good news she had just shared.
"Is something the matter?" She asked in concern.
The Omega shook her head vigorously, and it made her realize what was going on. She was just painfully shy!
The boss usually went for fiery women so this was a surprising change but she wouldn't judge, even though the Omega looked a little too young to be here.
"Alright, I'll give you your privacy." She concluded, heading for the door. "If you need anything, there's a landline that'll connect you right to a worker."
Caspian watched her leave, waiting to hear the lock in the door before he crumbled on the bed. He held his head in frustration, ruffling his hair.
Was this fate taunting him for choosing to deceive Asher? Why would the Mafia King even want to take him anywhere? He hardly spoke, and he didn't listen to orders.
It was one thing to deceive one person at a time but how was he supposed to pull off being a woman at a function that would no doubt be attended by powerful men and women?
He got to his feet to take a shower, hoping that it would help him sort his thoughts out better. A lengthy shower later and he still didn't have a solution to his problems - he was screwed.
Sure he had delicate features but that could only deceive people from a distance away, when they were up close, it was easier to pick out flaws.
Like how flat his chest was, how his shoulders were broader and his hips too slim. Was it possible to hide that with an outfit? He had to try.
He would have employed the help of a maid but he knew better than to trust anyone other than himself. Trusting people was what got him into his current situation.
So he would just have to spend the entirety of the day learning how to dress like a woman by trial and error. It really couldn't be that hard…
A few hours later, Caspian was lying face down on a pile of clothes on the floor. The only reason he wasn't sobbing was because he didn't want to ruin the expensive outfits.
He had tried several dresses, half of which he didn't know how to get on, and the other half had very obvious prints in front.
It wasn't like he could just cut it off, what was he supposed to do about it?
If he couldn't even manage to get a dress on, how did he think he could possibly pass as a woman for an entire night?
