"Something's odd," Jael spoke up well into dinner.
Casual conversation about Noah had come up but it was nothing to worry about.
This caught Asher and Caspian's attention, getting him curious stares from them.
"What is?" Asher asked.
"Noah's visit?" Caspian chimed in. It was unexpected but it didn't come off as odd to him.
After hearing Noah's reason for wanting him to come back to Moonstone, the pieces of the puzzle fell into place.
"No. The High Council's involvement." The Beta straightened up, dark eyes serious.
His response brought a frown to Asher's face. "They know everything that went down, but is it really a surprise that they would support a pack affiliated with them over us?"
Jael still didn't look convinced, but he didn't push things further, "Yeah, you're right."
Caspian wasn't sure what was going on, but he did know that if he completely cut off his ties with Noah, there wouldn't be a repeat of today.
