Chapter 6: Drinks!

"Steel, I told you, a suit is overdoing it! Just let me wear my normal cargo pants and t-shirt." I told the robot who finally relented.

A good and bad thing about having Steel is I never need to shop, since my body is literally always covered in armor, and its outer material is barely changed to form slight fabrics to form clothes.

But that also meant I had an alien questioning all of my choices.

"There you are." Cisco called out to me outside of the bar we were meeting in.

It was a relatively fancy bar, since some guy named Stein recommended me to have 'good' drinks for my first drinks.

Well, first legal drink.

I didn't really mind, and neither did the group, since we were here mostly for the company.

I did worry about the dent this would place on my wallet, but Tom came in clutch as per usual.

He sent Steel with his new credit-card he got. He managed to use the past few hours to monetise his channel and do some advertisements and earn money, and it all literally, coincidentally, just happened to work out.

He never told me the specifics, but Steel said Tom was confident I couldn't spend the whole thing even if I wanted to.

I know I said I wouldn't take his money…but hey he offered I didn't ask, and I am never saying no to a free treat.

"Come on in, we are just waiting on Jay and Professor Stein, they are coming from Star Labs." Cisco explained as we walked into the place.

We were given a table at the side, and I saw Barry and Joe looking at the menu.

"Lucas, it has been too long." Joe said as he stood up and gave me a hug.

"Cannot believe you are already old enough to drink with us." Joe said with a smile. I really respected this man. Over the past 3 years he cooked and sent over some food for me whenever he could.

He didn't send much over since the wormhole but I also didn't fault him. It was a gift, if I expected him to pass food everytime it would put an unhealthy strain on our relationship.

"Time does fly." I said as I took my seat on the sofa.

Looking at the prices on the menu, I was about to lose my marbles, until Steel assured me Tom could buy the whole menu here 10 times over and not care.

'Do I have a sugar-cat?' I questioned myself.

Steel also promised to let me have my own night, since he was actually doing calculations to break the code for the invisibility Turbo mode.

He also murmured something about him racing Tom in breaking the code.

"Yes that will be all for now thank you." Joe said, as he ordered the first round for us and then turned towards me with a slight smile on his face.

"How have you been Lucas? Anything new?" He asked me.

"No actually, life has been monotonous, but that is exactly what I want." I told Joe with a smile.

"He also became the assistant manager at Jitters." Barry added with a cheeky tone.

"So we have permanent free coffees." Joe said.

"Exactly what I thought!" Cisco joined.

After having a couple of drinks, the topic of conversation flowed into something that I was slightly…less experienced in.

"Really? You never dated anyone before?" Cisco asked as he turned towards me in slight surprise.

"Yeah. I never had the time, and now that it has been so long, I just don't know how to approach women I guess." I told him honestly.

By now, with a couple of drinks in, I felt a slight numbness in my head, a sensation I had missed for far too long.

Steel did tell me he could make me sober in an instant, but I asked him not to unless there was an emergency since I wanted to enjoy my night.

"Yeah, normally stuff like this you learn through school or meet people through mutual friends. It is actually pretty rare for people to just approach someone." Barry mentioned.

The group knew about me dropping out towards the end of high school, and that I barely even attended classes to be able to afford rent.

It wasn't really a sore spot for me, since I just saw it as it was, a circumstance in life, something I chose by myself, and I didn't regret it.

"What are we talking about?" Asked a new, slightly aged voice which joined our group.

I turned to see a man with white hair, whom I assumed to be Professor Stein that was supposed to be joining us.

"Professor, we were just talking about Lucas's lack of experience in dating." Cisco said, jabbing me slightly, clearly tipsy.

Even Joe seemed slightly tipsy but in control.

Barry however seemed stone cold sober.

"Ah, such youthful topics. Nice to meet you young man! My name is Marvin Stein, call me whichever is easier for you."

"Professor Stein it is." I said, respecting the way Cisco was addressing him, as I shook his hand. "My name is Lucas, please join us Professor."

"Jay will be here soon. He just had to go pass our coats. Now, what is this about females, Lucas?" Professor Stein asked, pouring himself a glass and seeming genuinely interested.

"Ah, just that I have never dated before." I said, now being slightly shy mainly due to our age gap.

"And why is that a problem?" He asked in confusion, taking a sip of alcohol.

"Right? Why should it be a problem?" Barry then said, as he looked around the bar.

"Look at that girl over there?" Barry said, as he turned around discreetly nodded in her direction.

"Alright Lucas, today is the day you change your permanent single status. Ask for her number." Cisco said.

"I will do it the second Barry asks out his crush." I replied curtly.

"What does this have to do with me?" Barry asked, but I just smiled back.

"You know what. Fine." Barry said as he walked out of the bar.

Before I could even understand what was going on, Joe took the bottle and topped my glass off.

"Inner-thoughts kill all potential Lucas. Just move. Like Barry just did." Joe encouraged and passed the glass to me.

"Steel. Remember to sober me up if I am about to do something stupid." I told Steel, as I chugged the glass.

I felt my throat burn as the liquor poured into my stomach.

I then stood up and walked towards the girl.

"Well you said stop yourself from being stupid, you didn't say I couldn't have fun."

…

This whole gap year before university is such a bad thing.

I know I said I didn't want to go to Brown anymore since it's so far, but it sucks more that I can't even go back to Yale now since the admissions are over, even the Dean can't change that.

I also just want to stay in Central City now. I mean, everyone else is studying here.

But how am I supposed to tell my friends that I am going to be taking a gap year? Will any of them even take me seriously?

I doubt it, with my past and track record, I doubt this next year is going to be easy.

Then there is mom…how am I going to tell her?

I better do it before she hears it from someone else, Rufus can only keep this to himself for so long.

If he accidentally spills this to her, I won't even be able to go home.

I just want a fresh start…someone who doesn't know about all the fucked up things I have done.

I even had to come to a slightly less fancy place like this to drink…just in hopes that no paparazzi will find me, or worse, I run into Dan or Nate.

"Hi." I heard a voice called to me from the side.

I turned my head to see a really handsome man with brown hair and piercing blue eyes. (Describe more)

Honestly the first thing to draw me to him were his eyes that sparked in a light blue shade.

It made me feel like I was swimming inside an endless expansion of the sky, and I didn't ever want to get out of them.

"Sorry, I just thought you were really good looking and was wondering if I could join you for a drink?" He asked me politely.

I was finally able to break eye contact, only momentarily though before I caught myself glancing back at him.

Why did it seem like his eyes were literally a moving endless expansion where the sky and ocean meet…it feels like their glowing blue.

And it is so mesmerizing.

"Thank you. Sure, go ahead." I invited him.

"My name is Lucas Morningstar." He greeted me while raising his hand.

The moment my hand met his, it felt like electricity surged in my body, causing my heart to beat faster for a second.

"My name is Serena Vanderwoodsan. Nice to meet you Lucas."
