Chapter 26 - Life [Part 8]

"Are we disturbing him?" said a female ghost named Violet.

"I don't think we are disturbing him, it's just that he seems to be trying to ignore us," replied a male ghost named Alex.

"Why does he have to be like that?"

"Maybe because he doesn't want to be seen as crazy by his friend."

"Hmm, you're right, besides, just talking to ghosts already seems strange to others."

"Yes, that's how it is."

"By the way, what is he doing right now?"

"It's clear that he is carrying his friend who fainted."

"I mean, what does he want to do?"

"Maybe he wants to help her?"

"Hmm, you might be right," Violet looked pensive.

Meanwhile, Joe Walker had been listening to the conversation between the two ghosts flying behind him.

"Hey, Joe, what should we do now?" Maria, who was following Joe Walker, asked.

"I think we should wait for Alice to make a decision. For now, we should find a place to lay Alice's body down more comfortably," replied Joe Walker, who was carrying Alice on his back.

"Hmm, you're right," Maria looked towards Alice with guilt. But she couldn't do anything except stay silent.

Meanwhile, the two ghosts who had been following Joe Walker wanted to help.

"Hey, your name is Joe, right? Go over there, there is our medicine research center," Violet said, pointing the way.

"Yeah, she's right, there's a special patient bed you can use over there," Alex tried to explain further.

Joe Walker, without saying anything, said, "Maria, follow me, I know a good place."

Maria looked happy, "Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I almost memorized this entire place last night. There is a medicine research center nearby. Maybe there is something that can help Alice."

"Wow, you're amazing, Joe! Let's go there, let's goooo!"

Joe Walker smiled, feeling happy to receive praise.

Meanwhile, the two ghosts listening to Joe Walker and Maria's conversation whispered loudly to each other intentionally in front of Joe Walker.

"Hey, hey, my Violet, do you hear this boy lying right there?"

"Yes, yes, my Alex, he's even lying in front of a little girl."

"He's even proud about that."

"He's also happy to receive praise for his lies."

"Doesn't he have any shame?"

"Definitely no shame."

Joe Walker, hearing the whispers clearly, shouted, "Shut up!"

Maria, startled, asked, "Joe, what's wrong with you all of a sudden?"

"Ah, nothing, i'm sorry...," Joe Walker felt embarrassed.

The two ghosts laughed at Joe Walker, who was feeling embarrassed.

Suddenly, Joe Walker pointed to the two ghosts and asked while continuing to walk, "Maria, don't you see anything over there?"

Maria, confused, and of course answered, "No, what's wrong?"

"Are you sure you don't see anything? Like a gust of wind or something like that."

"No, what do you see there?"

"Nothing... I was just asking out of curiosity."

"Huh? What's wrong with you, Joe? Are you hallucinating? Are you hungry to the point of hallucinating? Okay, I'll get some fruit for you!" Maria was about to run at that moment.

"No! Stop! I'm not hungry, I'm just kidding, Maria," Joe Walker lied. He just didn't want to complicate the conversation.

"Your joke is not funny! In that case, it's my turn, right? This time I will give you some good joke!"

"Ahaha, okay, go ahead."

Maria made some jokes, and Joe Walker listened to them.

On the other hand, the two ghosts following him became more interested in Joe Walker.

"Hey, hey, my Violet, it seems our suspicion is correct. He can see us!"

"From the beginning, he could already see the direction I showed him. You're just too foolish to understand it quickly."

"Ugh... That sounds painful to me. But why does he still not want to talk to us?"

"You said before, he's embarrassed to talk to ghosts in front of his friend, right?"

"Oh, you're right."

Violet thought for a moment and then said, "I just remembered! What if he uses telepathy? He should be able to, right?"

Joe Walker, hearing that, immediately signaled by saying, "Wait until we reach our destination!"

The two ghosts understood what Joe Walker was trying to convey. He wanted the two ghosts to wait for them until they reached the medicine research center mentioned earlier.

Meanwhile, Maria, confused, stopped joking and asked, "What do you mean, Joe?"

"No, there's nothing, I just wanted to shout suddenly."

"Didn't you listen to all the jokes I told you? You can't! You have to listen to all the masterpieces!"

"No, but..."

"No! You have to listen to all of them! Open your ears wide and listen to me!"

Maria repeated all the jokes she had told him so far. Meanwhile, the two ghosts following Joe Walker laughed at the situation.

As time passed, they walked past dozens of trees, making the place look like a forest. Many diverse plants could be seen there.

After a few minutes, they finally arrived at a relatively large place like a giant transparent tent. The place was the medicine research center mentioned by the two ghosts who had been following Joe Walker all this time.

"Wow, this place is amazing! Even I don't know, it looks amazing! Even I don't understand anything here," Maria said.

The place had many strange things like colorful liquids, small plants everywhere, scattered strange powders, and pills scattered on the floor.

"Uh, this place is boring, can I go outside, Joe?" Maria said.

"Huh? Earlier, you were amazed by this place. Why are you suddenly bored?"

"This place looks amazing! But boring... there's nothing I understand, there's nothing I can do here, it's really a boring place."

"Hmm, okay, you can go out, but don't go too far, make sure you can still see this tent!"

"Okay, sir!" Maria said firmly, saluting like a soldier.

"By the way," Joe Walker looked embarrassed, "instead of calling me sir, it's better to call me brother, how about that?..."

"B-brother?" Maria said, tilting her head in confusion.

"Ugh, the cuteness level is a bit too much, okay... Be careful outside, okay!?"

Maria started to smile and ran out of the tent while saying, "Yeay! Okay, I understand!"

Joe Walker smiled broadly, feeling happy.

Oh, damn, Maria called me brother!
