Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 I Do Not Want to Die

"Is it going to be over?"

Nick lay in his hospital bed, staring feebly at the pale ceiling. There was a sharp, quick sound of ambulance equipment nearby, and then a man in white ran quickly into the room.

Nick could feel a strong electric current stimulating his heart, but his consciousness was becoming indistinct. Darkness was enveloping him, and his body fell like a huge stone into the bottomless abyss.

Nick had battled cancer for three years and still failed. Death came sooner than he expected, and he was taken by surprise.

He could no longer enjoy the warm afternoon sun, smell the flowers, or taste the delicious food.

By Jove, he had not even come to say goodbye to his family.

"I want to live..."

Just a second before Nick's consciousness had entirely left him, the clear chime sounded like a sudden beam of light driving the darkness away.

Beep!

[The Lord Game is about to start. Do you want to choose a contract?]

A panel appeared in front of Nick's eyes, and before he could figure out what it meant, new information appeared on the panel.

 [Choose the contract or die.]

"No, I don't want to die!" Nick shouted inwardly.

 [Contract Successful!]

In the next second, a powerful force enveloped Nick, and the white, blazing light stung his eyes. When he opened his eyes again, he noticed that everything around him had become strange.

He found himself in a wide tent, with thick, damp dirt underfoot, and the dilapidated conditions made him think he had been transported to the Stone Age.

[The Lord Game is about to start. Please confirm your identity information.]

[The panel appeared again, and Nick stared intently at the text on the panel.]

[Race: Troll]

[Level: 1/3]

[Name: Klaus]

[Skill 1: Spear Throwing]

[Skill 2: Transformation]

[Battle Value: 0/100]

[Strength: 0/100]

[Agility: 0/100]

[Stamina: 100/100]

[Luck: 0/100]

[Note: The final mission of this game: Become a Continent Lord.]

[Complete the task to get the corresponding reward.]

As Nick finished reading the above information, he suddenly felt a short, sharp pain in his head. All the information about the troll Klaus had been implanted in his memory like a flash.

"Klaus, my name is Klaus," he muttered to himself.

New information appeared on the panel.

[Task 1: Hunt magic beasts to increase battle value to 30%.]

[Time: Within 1 day]

"So, I need to complete every task that the system assigns," Klaus thought for a moment. "What will I get if I become a Continent Lord?"

However, the system did not provide an immediate answer, and all he needed to do at the moment was follow the system's instructions and complete each task.

At this point, the information that had just been displayed on the panel disappeared. Klaus saw that the panel interface had been reorganized into sections: Personal Information, Task, Analysis, and Reproduction.

Klaus's eyes were fixed on the Analysis section, and he wondered what it was for and how it could help him.

In the next second, a prompt appeared on the panel: [Analysis: Automatically analyzes the enemy's attributes and weaknesses]

So, what is the function of Reproduction? Klaus turned his attention to that section.

[Reproduction: Successful breeding of offspring can increase the luck value.]

Klaus thinks this feature is good, and he can get good luck whenever he impregnates and has a baby. He believed that it would not be difficult to impregnate a person of the opposite sex with the strong body of a troll.

"But I have to complete the first task first. Where can I hunt the beast?" Klaus was thinking as another troll entered the tent.

"Klaus, my brother." A tall, muscular troll hugged Klaus excitedly. "You're finally awake."

Klaus knew that the man before him was his brother. His name was Rand, and he was one of the strongest warriors of the tribe.

"It's a miracle that you can wake up after being attacked by a blood demon." Rand patted Klaus on the back hard. "I'm going to tell the patriarch the news."

Klaus remembered that his tribe had been attacked by a blood demon a few days before, and that during the battle with one of the blood demons, Klaus had been bitten and fallen into a coma. Those who are bitten are usually poisoned to death by the toxins contained in the blood demon's saliva.

Klaus's awakening was a miracle.

"Wait." Klaus grabbed his brother's arm. "Rand, do you know when the next hunt will be?"

"Tomorrow." Rand looked at Klaus, "Do you want to join tomorrow's hunt?"

"Yes." Klaus nodded.

"But your body hasn't fully recovered yet, and you can't fight." Rand's eyes were full of concern, "Maybe you can wait."

"No, I can't wait." Klaus knew that the trolls did not hunt every day. A single hunt would provide them with enough food for several days, and the patriarch would only arrange the next hunt when the food was nearly exhausted.

Klaus had only one more day. He did not want to fail in his first mission, and he did not know what the consequences might be.

"Rand, look." Klaus held out his once injured arm, "My wound has healed, and I believe I can participate in tomorrow's hunt."

He eventually agreed after Rand confirmed that Klaus had no scars on his body.

"But you must promise me that you will follow me closely while hunting." Rand was still uneasy, "Because tomorrow our target is the Black Iron Snake, and that one is going to be very difficult to deal with."

Klaus smiled and nodded.

Early the next morning, Klaus took his spear to an open meadow at the mouth of the valley and waited for the arrival of the other trolls.
