"Damn it!!" Lira roared in outrage. "At this rate we will be wiped out in a week". Her Agents were not only limited, they were also the last hope for the diir race. The diir in their dormant form were too weak to fight against the pest's critters and only a few diir could awaken their Agent form.
"Should i go there?" Drau asked.
Lira sighed and shook her head, "No, Gyr is already dead, there is no use. But we have to stop these humans", she said, glancing at Jack in the process.
"What do you mean by that?" Jack did not like the way Lira had said those words.
"She means we have to rip their heads from their bodies and use them as fertilizer", Kraw somehow shrugged.
"What!?, they are being misled just like i was, they do not know anything and have nothing to gain by doing that. They should even be off planet by now..." Jack said, wondering why the Paladins were still there and more importantly why they were helping the supposed enemy.
Jack honestly did not know if the diir were telling the truth, since the 'critter' from before had told the Paladins that the enemy were the beasts, which he now found out were called diir. He knew that one of the two races was lying but he did not know which, Jack had always put his absolute faith in his instincts and with them he had escaped death as many times as he had won card games.
However his instincts were far from omni-potent.
Like at that very moment, his instincts did nothing to help him understand why the Paladins were still on X4442. He knew that the planet had nothing the Paladins could want and Tahir was very much hell bent on getting off it as fast as possible. The only valuable thing which could still be on the planet was...
"Me!" he said, interrupting the conversation between Lira and Drau.
"What are you talking about Jack?" Kraw asked while nonchalantly licking his giant paw.
"The Paladins...."
"What's a Paladins?"
"The humans are still on this planet only because they are looking for me....."
"And they are attacking us because they know we have you, or your body". Lira finished Jack's sentence.
"Exactly, so if you let me go to them, I can straighten all this out and be off planet in minutes". Jack said.
"What's a minutes?, and are you threatening us human?" Drau waved his tail around, which conveniently still had a red tip, painted by a certain Paladin's blood. Jack shivered at the sight of the tail which almost ended his life but this time he did not show his fear.
"No i am not", he said, looking directly into Drau's eyes.
"I am simply stating a fact, you have nothing to lose if you let me go. However if you don't, and fight the Paladins, i assure you it will not end well. When backed into a corner the Paladins can, and will, destroy this planet. Our ship is out there and you don't even want to think about what it can do". Jack half lied.
Lira narrowed her eyes. "What is a Paladin, and this 'Ship', is it a weapon?" she asked.
"Paladins are the human equivalent to your Agents and i am one of them. Yes our ship is a weapon, a weapon like you have never seen before", he threatened, right after denying the fact that he was.
"Fine, you can go", Lira said.
"What!?" Jack and Drau blurted out in surprise. Jack never thought it would have been that easy to convince them. Drau on the other hand knew that Lira would not let him kill the human, however he hoped that he would at least torture him just a little. Even though he did not mean to do it, one of their brothers was dead directly because of him and the other indirectly.
"You heard me, leave. In fact, Kraw, take him back to where Draw took him from". Lira ordered. The more she talked the more Jack's suspicions grew.
"Why though?", he asked. "What's the catch?" Jack had killed one of them, and he knew for a fact that if the roles were reversed, he would not let someone who killed a Paladin go that easily.
"I want you and your humans off my planet. Everything was going well before you came and because of you we lost two agents". Lira explained, however even her explanation sounded shady. "You better leave now, the sun is about to set", she added.
Jack's instincts were telling him that something was off, however he could do nothing. Whatever his instincts were warning him against, he had a better chance of beating it with the rest of the team.
"Can i please have my tail and guns first?" he asked. Lira nodded before Draw picked the weapons up with his appendages and threw them at Jack, with one of the pistols almost taking his eye out.
"Come on human, i don't like the dark", Kraw said as he stretched. Jack nodded and turned to Lira and Drau...
"Uh.....goodbye?", he said, not exactly sure of the proper words. He then began walking out of the cave when Kraw lifted him off the ground and put him on his back before dashing down the mountain.
"Just like that Lira!?" Drau complained, "They killed two agents, we might not even win the war now because of this loss!" he roared. The planet had 15 agents for over 10 years but the arrival of the humans already changed all that in one day.
Lira chucked as she watched the disappearing figure of Kraw running down the mountain. She then looked at the sky, "Drau do you think its a coincidence that thing up there appeared the same time the humans came?" She pointed at a small dot in the sky. That small dot was actually the Leviathan.
Drau calmed down, "No it's not a coincidence, but still, i do not think they would destroy the planet with them still on it", he said.
"Yes, the only way we can be sure that they do not use this weapon of theirs is that they remain on planet". Lira stated.
"But you let them go. When Jack finds the others they will leave the planet and might just destroy it out of spite!" Drau seemed ready to run after Kraw and stop Jack from leaving, he just needed Lira's approval.
"Do not worry, they are not going anywhere, after all, at first they did not leave because we had something of value to them. Well, we still do, those so called Paladins will replace the Agents they took from me". Lira said as she walked back into her cave, with a confused Drau following.
Meanwhile at the base of the mountain, Jack was holding on for dear life as Kraw ran through the trees with a speed Jack never experienced before, simply because he had never rode a motorcycle back on earth. "Are you getting faster as you run!?" he shouted into Kraw's ear, annoying the hell out of the diir-beast.
"Yes it's a special trait of our race, the longer we run the faster we get". Kraw answered.
"How fast is your full speed then?" Jack asked.
"No one knows since no one has ever run for long enough to find out".
The diir-beast human duo continued their small talk until Jack saw a certain tree. "Woah!" he said, pulling on Kraw's appendages like he would a horse's reins, causing Kraw to lift him up with his tail and slam him onto the ground.
