When they pulled up outside James and Blair's house, Duncan, Maggie, Erik, and the elders were there waiting. James climbed out of the backseat, holding out his hand he helped Blair out. Blair was dry but still barefoot and had on the kaki green linen pants and cream-colored crop top from the Red Creek pack. Her hair was wild and tangled, she had dried mud all over her. Maggie smiled seeing her, "We were so worried," Maggie called walking over and embracing Blair. "I'm so sorry," Blair squeaked out. "Oh, my darling girl, don't be sorry," Maggie said squeezing her. "We knew you'd come back to us," Duncan told her, as Maggie released her. Blair gave Duncan a quick hug, "Come on, let's get you all something to eat," Maggie offered, nearly bursting with joy.
James laced his fingers with Blair, he was not about to let her go. Blair looked to him and smiled warmly, he smiled back, and they walked in together. "Sidney?" Erik whispered not taking his eyes off Sidney. Blair turned, "Erik," Sidney called and running into his arms. Erik caught her and kissed her, as tears rolled down Sidney's face. Pulling back Erik cupped her cheek, "I am bound to you," Erik whispered touching his forehead to hers. "And I too you," Sidney replied, accepting him. They smiled at each other and followed everyone in, "I made Blair's favorite, Shepard's pie," Maggie said as they filed into the dining room. Everyone sat down as Maggie and Jen served everyone, "How did you know I was hexed?" Blair asked taking a bite. "Craig told me; he saw my mother coming from the healer's house with a ring. I had to do some digging into that girl's things, but I found the summer rain will wash a hex away, only after the object has been removed," Sidney said. "What girl?" James asked. "We don't say her name," Sidney answered accepting a plate of Shepard's pie. "Simone, not many people liked her," Blair explained. "After what she did, the pack was ashamed of her, including Andy," Sidney added. "Then why did he," James began but a knock on the door interrupted him.
Duncan opened the door and let their healer Adair in, "The time for questions will come, along with her brother. The healer is here to look over Blair," Duncan said. "Alpha your father is right, Alpha Andrew will come, if not for Blair than for his sister," Elder Tomas chimed in. "She has a mate here, she's now under the protection of the evergreen pack as long as she accepts the claim," James said looking to Sidney. She gave him a half smile, "I'm afraid when my brother comes, he will force me to reject my mate and come home," Sidney told them. "That's not going to happen," Erik blurted out. "Erik, they've kept us apart, since we were nine," Sidney reminded him quietly. Blair looked over, "You imprinted?" Blair asked. "Yes, when Sidney came here with her father," Erik replied. "I want guards around the perimeter, doubled," James commanded. Ryan nodded to James, he touched Blair's shoulder, she smiled at him and headed out to put the command into action.
Blair finished her plate and sat down on the couch, "I just want to make sure there aren't any adverse reactions to the hex," Adair told Blair and began a short exam. Adair was a tall slender woman, her black hair pulled into a low bun. She wore very light clothing in earthy tones. She was very warm and welcoming, and her green eyes seemed to twinkle. "I don't see anything wrong, but Maggie said you could be pregnant," Adair told her. Blair nodded, "I did bring a portable ultrasound, so we can check," she offered. Blair nodded, "We can do this in your room, it would probably be more comfortable," Adair suggested. Blair smiled and Adair went to her car to get the machine "We should probably head out," Erik said feeling uncomfortable. Blair went to Sidney and hugged her, "No one will harm you as long as you're here," she assured Sidney. Tears formed in Sidney's eye, "Thank you, Luna," she said bowing her head in respect. Elder Tomas and Elder Wallace bowed to Blair and took their leave.
Adair came back and followed Blair and James to their room. "Just lay on the bed and lift your shirt over your stomach," she explained, as she powered on the portable ultrasound machine. James knelt on the floor next to Blair and grabbed her hand. "The gel might be a little cool," Adair warned before squirting Blair's stomach, it warmed quickly as Adair moved the probe around Blair's lower abdomen. Adair smiled and pushed a few buttons. A loud slow whooshing noise filled the room, "That's his heartbeat," she told them. James and Blair beamed at each other, "The more your bond is strengthened the stronger his heartbeat will become. It's a little slower right now, so I want you to come down to the clinic tomorrow and we'll check again," Adair explained. "You can already tell it's a boy," James asked. "Well, she's about two months along, but see here," Adair said turning the machine so James and Blair could see the image. "All indicators suggest, boy," Adair told them smiling. James kissed Blairs forehead, as Adair put away the machine and wiped the gel off Blair's stomach. James walked Adair to the door, "I mean it, I expect to see her tomorrow," Adair replied. "You will, thank you," James beamed. Back in the bedroom, Blair looked at her stomach, she was two months along but not really showing. She would likely only be pregnant for another four months maybe five, but it merely looked like she had overeaten. She rubbed her belly and smiled, "Blair," Ben called annoyed. Blair rolled her eyes and went to the living room, "Well," Ben said as everyone waited anxiously. James grabbed Blair's hand and pulled her to his side, "It's a boy," Blair told everyone, with a sweet smile. Jen squealed with delight, Maggie started crying as she ran over to hug James and Blair. "Congratulations," Ben said shaking hands with James after Maggie released her hug. Jen hugged Blair and gave her belly a rub, "I can't wait to see you," Jen said to Blair's belly.
After the excitement died down a little, Jen and Ben needed to head home. They had been away from their pack for almost a month, they needed to get home and secure their perimeter and pack in case, Andrew attacked them in retaliation. Blair hug them, "I'm glad you're home," Jen whispered. "Thank you," Blair murmured back. "Take care of my nephew," Ben said walking to Blair. "I will," she replied with a sad smile. "He's got twice as much alpha blood in him," Ben reminded. Blair nodded as Ben hugged her, "thank you for coming for me," she whispered. "Always with you," Ben told her. "Always with you," Blair repeated and wiped a tear away as Ben pulled back. "If you need our pack, we are on alert," Ben offered. "Thank you," James replied shaking his hand.
"The coven will arrive in two more days to deal with the Red Creek Pack," Duncan told James as he and Maggie made their way to the door. "Congratulations, my boy," Duncan said softly, as he hugged James. "Thank you," James told him. "We'll come by day after tomorrow to check in," Maggie offer. Blair nodded, as she took her place beside James. They waved as Duncan and Maggie headed to their car and drove away.
