Florah kept on thinking about what the girls had said and the more she thought about, the more invested she became. 'Maybe it was about a job' , she thought.
She had to find a way to leave the stall and find the two girls and possibly find out how she could also apply for the job, if it was still available.
"Ah ah ah" Florah painfully groaned while clutching her torso, "What is wrong with you girl?" Miss Bernatta asked. "It is my stomach, I had beans for breakfast and I think my stomach is full of gas . I would need to..." "Get out of here, before you pollute the air and scare away my customers" Miss Bernatta rudely interrupted Florah before she could finish her lies. On the other hand, this made it easier for Florah to go look for the two girls.
Rushing through the crowd, Florah headed south of the market while looking around. Almost reaching outside the market, Florah hadn't seen any of the two girls yet. She started to feel dejected "Maybe they are gone or are somewhere still inside the market" she thought feeling helpless.
Looking around one last time, Florah saw one of the two men that had helped the two girls carry the boxes back in the market. This lifted her spirits and she rushed to get to him, she found him loading food supplies in a big wooden cart which was attached to four brown horses at the front.
"Kind Sir " Florah called politely. The brown haired man turned around looking at the red beauty, that called for his attention." Yes ma'am" he answered. Florah now was stuck about what to say as she over looked this part, exhaling she decided to go straight with it "Umm.. those two girls that bought tomatoes," Florah went on and the man nodded.
"They were talking about a job, I presume you know of it as it looked like all of you work together". Florah rumbled on and the man looked at her, then he nodded upon realization "Yes, there is need of a kitchen hand in the kitchen given the upcoming ball" "BALL" Florah wondered out loud "Yes the 'midnight ball' at the castle " The man answered her internal question.
"If you are interested in applying for it, you can ride with me as that is where am taking these supplies" he motioned to the filled cart. "Oh right now am helping out my aunt to buy groceries and i overheard the girls, but if your offer still stands tomorrow morning, I would be available" she offered a bow and a kind smile to the helpful man.
The man was already mesmerized by the red head in front of him and he thought, since he was already coming again to the market to purchase more food stuff, he might as well be in her company. "OKAY it is fine, we will leave by 7am, if that is alright" He asked politely. "Yes it is fine with me, thank you so much kind sir" Florah smiled brightly at the kind man not knowing that he did what he did with the intention of wooing her.
They bid each other farewell, each going back to their tasks. Florah rushed back to the stall with her mood uplifted, that she ignored her employer's scowl and disgusted look she sent her way. Walking back home, Florah wondered what it would be like working in the castle, would she get to see the infamous 'King'.
Among the scorched trees deep inside the Laziha Forest, two men stood looking at the burnt marks and dead animals that gave off an unpleasant smell in the atmosphere. "They are carrying out something" Lester said "Hmm, texting something " Gavriel added his thoughts while casually inspecting the carcasses.
"They have been here for a while" Lester said looking at the maggots feeding on the dead sheep.
Gavriel suddenly smirked and sang "come out come out, wherever you are". Suddenly the trees around them started burning along with the dead animals, giving off an unusual green gas that killed whatever it touched.
Gavriel and Lester quickly jumped from where they were standing, to avoid the fire along with the gas it gave off. The surprising thing was that, after the two jumped from where the fire was burning, the fire immediately stopped. Chuckling, Gavriel said loudly "OK, let's play a game" after he said that, black mist surrounded the two and spread out in the forest, covering a number of trees around them.
"Ahhhhh" after a couple of seconds, a loud scream sounded. "There you are" Gavriel mused, he spread his palm out and the mist started gathering in it. Lester glanced at his friend who was busy taunting the witch and the two started walking in the direction where they heard the scream.
Looking at the half dead man twitching in pain with the residue of the black mist coming out of his burnt skin, "A man" Lester said bewildered. "I didn't know I had uncles, looks like they left you out here to die" the king taunted the witch. "Shu..utt uup" the witch in pain cried, "Okay" Gavriel said.
Moving closer to the dying man, Gavriel kicked his well polished leather shoe into the witch's torso splitting it open, 'cough' 'cough' the witch coughed dark blood. Lester also moved closer to question the witch before his friend killed him.
"Back there, what didn't you want us to see" he asked . The witch started hysterically laughing, the next moment dark spots appeared on his skin before he convulsed and turned into white ash. Lester turned to look at his friend who was smirking, narrowing his eyes at him, Gavriel answered his unspoken question "I would never kill someone that way" which made Lester narrow his eyes further at him.
