Chapter 111: Xiao Wu's Departure
As Yu Xiaogang's anxious gaze grew more restless with each passing day, time slowly slipped away. Although Tang San had not yet regained consciousness, his body functions were gradually recovering. This development allowed Yu Xiaogang to breathe a sigh of relief.
"Xiao Wu, you heard what the doctor said. Although Tang San's injuries are severe, he has passed the most critical stage and is already starting to recover. In another ten days or so, he should wake up. You need to leave now. Staying here is far too dangerous! When Tang San becomes stronger in the future, you will still have a chance to meet again," Yu Xiaogang urged.
Now, Yu Xiaogang had two main tasks: taking care of the comatose Tang San and tirelessly persuading Xiao Wu to leave.
But Xiao Wu remained as stubborn as ever. She shook her head firmly and said, "Master, there's no need to say more. I won't feel at ease until I see my brother wake up. Don't worry; if they come for me, I would rather self-destruct than let them take my spirit ring and spirit bones!"
Go ahead and die if you want, but I'm worried that your spirit ring and spirit bones won't go to my disciple!
Yu Xiaogang screamed this in his heart, though he couldn't voice it out loud. Instead, he wore a helpless, bitter smile.
"You must leave Tang San immediately and return to the Star Dou Forest. Staying here will only bring disaster upon him!"
At that moment, a deep, heavy voice suddenly echoed through the room. In the next instant, a figure appeared inside.
The newcomer was dressed in a robe full of holes, with loose threads hanging everywhere. His unkempt beard and hair, which resembled a bird's nest, indicated it had been ages since he had washed.
"Haotian Douluo!"
Yu Xiaogang recognized the man instantly. After all, he was his idol. Even though the man was now disheveled beyond recognition, Yu Xiaogang identified him at a glance.
Tang Hao ignored Yu Xiaogang and walked straight to Xiao Wu, staring down at her.
"A Titled Douluo!"
Tang Hao's soul power radiated from his body, causing Xiao Wu's face to turn ashen. "You... are you here to kill me?"
"No, I won't kill you," Tang Hao replied, squeezing out a faint smile on his otherwise rigid face. "In fact, I discovered your identity seven years ago. If I had been after your spirit ring and spirit bones, I would have captured you back then. Girl, I am Tang San's father."
"You... you're Brother San's father!"
Hearing Tang Hao's words, Xiao Wu first breathed a sigh of relief, then became excited. "Do you know that Brother San has always missed you? Since you knew my identity all along, that means you've always been around him. Why haven't you come to see him?"
"This is not something for you to question," Tang Hao replied, refusing to answer Xiao Wu's question. He then scolded, "You have some nerve! Do you not understand that as a spirit beast in its immature form, you risk exposing your identity with every use of your martial soul? Not just a Titled Douluo, even a slightly stronger Soul Douluo could easily recognize you! And you still intended to follow Tang San to the Soul Master Tournament? Do you have a death wish?"
"I..."
Under Tang Hao's reprimand, Xiao Wu lowered her head, stammering and unable to speak. Despite her true age being thousands of times greater than Tang Hao's, she now appeared like a junior being scolded by an elder.
Tang Hao sighed, waving his hand. "I've already knocked out the ones keeping watch outside. Leave now. Staying by Tang San's side will only bring harm. Before your identity becomes widely known, get away while you still can. If the Spirit Hall finds out who you are, even I won't be able to protect you."
"Alright, I'll go!"
Xiao Wu bit her lower lip, glancing longingly at the unconscious Tang San on the bed. Then, she reluctantly turned and headed toward the door, looking back every few steps until her figure finally disappeared into the night.
After Xiao Wu left, Tang Hao turned his gaze to Yu Xiaogang, his voice laced with a chilling killing intent. "What happened to Tang San? Who injured him like this?"
Tang Hao had just recently left the Slaughter City. He had placed the inner cores of the Ten-Headed Fierce Yang Serpent at the designated spot, as promised. Then, he hurried to Soto City to continue guarding his son. Upon arrival, he found out that Shrek Academy had moved. Because Flender had a reputation for being stingy, constantly looking for excuses to pay less rent to the villagers, the locals were not fond of Shrek Academy. Hardly anyone cared about the academy's movements, so it took a lot of questioning for Tang Hao to finally learn where they had gone. After much effort, he managed to catch up to them in Heaven Dou City.
As soon as he arrived outside Shrek Academy, he noticed several powerful soul masters hiding in the shadows, keeping a close watch on the academy's every move.
Sensing something was wrong, Tang Hao concealed himself and used his Titled Douluo abilities to silently approach them. To his shock, he overheard them talking about a hundred-thousand-year transformed soul beast. Only then did Tang Hao realize that Xiao Wu's identity had been exposed. Without hesitation, he knocked out the soul masters one by one and rushed into the academy.
For a Titled Douluo like Tang Hao, the aura of a soul beast was like a beacon in the night, guiding him straight to Tang San's room.
It was only when he reached the room that he discovered his son gravely injured. He nearly exploded in rage, ready to berate Yu Xiaogang for not taking proper care of his child.
Fortunately, Yu Xiaogang was in the middle of explaining the doctor's words to Xiao Wu, which spared him from Tang Hao's wrath.
After listening to Yu Xiaogang, Tang Hao calmed himself and used his own soul power to inspect Tang San. He found that his son's bodily functions were indeed gradually recovering and that his life was no longer in danger. Only then did he choose to deal with Xiao Wu's situation first before questioning Yu Xiaogang about what had happened to Tang San.
Yu Xiaogang immediately began recounting the events, embellishing the story. He conveniently omitted the part where Tang San had initially infiltrated the Nine Stars Hall with ill intentions. Instead, he framed the story as the Nine Stars Hall abusing their power and leaving Tang San in this state.
"Nine Stars Hall! Dugu Bo! Yang Wudi!"
Tang Hao was not one to forget grievances easily. He still remembered how Xiao Yu had coerced him into retrieving the Ten-Headed Fierce Yang Serpent's inner cores from the Slaughter City. And now, his son had been beaten to this state. Old grudges and new ones merged, and soul power erupted violently from Tang Hao's body, his terrifying killing intent nearly tearing Yu Xiaogang apart.
Swoosh!
In the next moment, Tang Hao's figure flickered, and he disappeared from the room.
"Huff… huff… huff…!!!"
Yu Xiaogang gasped for air, not fully recovering until Tang Hao had been gone for a while. However, instead of fear, his face was filled with excitement. "Dugu Bo, you old fool! You dared to look down on me, the great master? Now, let Haotian Douluo teach you a lesson!"
