Chapter 101: The God King Hung Up
"There's an intruder!"
The alarm reverberated through the air, startling countless disciples within the gates of the Nine Stars Palace.
Dozens of soul masters possessing flying-type martial souls summoned their souls and ascended into the sky. From above, they scanned the ground in search of the intruder.
"There, I see him!"
A sharp-eyed disciple quickly spotted Tang San, pointing toward him. Instantly, numerous disciples on both the ground and in the air surrounded Tang San's location.
"Damn it!"
Tang San cursed as he extended his Sky-Claw, aiming at the large tree he had used to leap inside earlier. His thumb stretched straight, releasing the metal claw that latched perfectly onto the tree trunk.
With a light push off the ground, Tang San soared into the air like an arrow leaving its bowstring, shooting out of the area.
With a whoosh, he had already left the skies above the Nine Stars Palace.
Among the flying soul masters of the Nine Stars Palace, many had higher soul power than Tang San. However, they had been caught off guard and, in their haste, failed to react before Tang San fled.
Watching the palace's soul masters shrink into small black dots in the distance, Tang San finally exhaled in relief.
"Damn Nine Stars Palace! To have such strict defenses—they must be courting death!"
Now that he was out of danger, a still-shaken Tang San cursed loudly.
Just then, a dark green figure suddenly appeared in front of him—it was Dugu Bo.
Hearing Tang San cursing the Nine Stars Palace enraged Dugu Bo, who was not known for his good temper. With a surge of anger, he struck Tang San's unremarkable face with his palm.
Smack!
Like a bird with broken wings, Tang San was sent crashing toward the ground.
Dugu Bo had struck with fury, his strength far beyond ordinary people's imagination. Tang San hit the ground, immediately falling unconscious, with half of his face swelling up and even a front tooth knocked out.
However, surviving a blow from a Titled Douluo at only the thirty-something level showed Tang San's extraordinary resilience.
"Tie this kid up and hang him outside the castle!"
Dugu Bo ordered the disciples who had rushed over, pointing at Tang San. "The Nine Stars Palace has resided in the Sunset Forest for so long, and no one has ever dared to sneak in. This kid must be taught a lesson, or others will dare to do the same in the future!"
...
Back at Shrek Academy, Tang San's sudden disappearance threw everyone into chaos, especially Yu Xiaogang and Xiao Wu. Xiao Wu was genuinely worried about Tang San. Her eyes were red, her lips pale, and she would choke up after just a few words, tears falling uncontrollably like a kite with its string cut.
As for Yu Xiaogang, while he was concerned for Tang San's safety, his greater fear was for his own life. Tang San was not only proof of his theories but also Tang Hao's son. If something happened to him, Tang Hao wouldn't need a hammer; just a stomp could easily crush a level-29 "old chicken" like Yu Xiaogang.
But no matter how anxious Yu Xiaogang was, it was of no use. Tang San had gone to steal something—how could they openly tell others about it? No one had a clue where he went. Yu Xiaogang, Xiao Wu, and the other Shrek teachers searched every corner of Tiandou City; they even considered entering the palace, but still found no trace of Tang San.
In the end, it was Xiao Wu, who had been keeping an eye on her beloved "brother" Tang San, who recalled that he had visited the Sunset Forest several times before his disappearance. With no better leads, they decided to try their luck there.
As soon as they entered the Sunset Forest, there was no need for a thorough search. Outside the towering Nine Stars Palace castle, a black shadow—beaten beyond recognition—was hanging, swaying in the breeze. It was visible to anyone who raised their head within the forest.
Although the figure was unrecognizable, both Yu Xiaogang and Xiao Wu, having spent so much time with Tang San, identified him immediately.
"Xiao San!"
"Third Brother!"
The two shouted almost in unison before rushing madly toward the castle.
"Xiaogang!"
Liu Erlong quickly caught up to them, grabbing Xiao Wu with one hand and holding Yu Xiaogang with the other, speeding toward where Tang San was hanging.
"Lao Zhao, hurry back to the academy and find Rongrong. Ask her to request Sect Master Ning's help. The Nine Stars Palace has a powerful background; only if Sect Master Ning steps in will they give us any respect!"
Unlike Yu Xiaogang, Xiao Wu, and Liu Erlong—who had lost their composure in the heat of the moment—Flender remained relatively calm. He turned to Zhao Wuji, gave the command, then activated his Owl Martial Soul and took off after Liu Erlong.
Zhao Wuji understood immediately and quickly turned back toward Tiandou City.
He had heard Ning Rongrong mention the situation at Nine Stars Palace before. This branch was guarded by the Poison Douluo Dugu Bo and the well-known Assault System Soul Douluo Yang Wudi. Their group of Soul Sages wouldn't even be enough to fill the gaps between their teeth. Only the intervention of Ning Fengzhi, the sect master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan—one of the top three clans—could control the situation.
"Who goes there?"
The speed of the human-shaped dragon, Liu Erlong, was astonishing. Within seconds, she had closed the distance. Her fierce killing intent made the disciples guarding Tang San shiver with fear as they quickly summoned their martial souls, stepping forward to block Liu Erlong's path.
"Out of my way!"
Liu Erlong, hot-tempered as always, didn't bother with words. She threw a punch, and a roaring fire dragon shot forward, sending the disciples flying. They were mere Soul Ancestors, utterly outmatched by her strike.
Flender swooped down just in time, rushing over to cut the ropes that bound Tang San. He caught Tang San and descended to the ground, where he immediately laid him flat and began examining his condition.
Tang San's state was tragic. His hair was disheveled, his face pale, and his body was covered in whip marks, with deep wounds exposing raw flesh—too gruesome to look at.
Seeing Tang San in such a state, Xiao Wu stumbled and fell to her knees in front of him. She reached out, wanting to touch him but afraid of causing him further pain. Tears gathered on her long eyelashes, dropping one by one onto the muddy ground.
Yu Xiaogang's expression was equally terrifying. His face was as dark as storm clouds before a rainstorm, his fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white, and fury burned in his eyes.
The commotion caused by Liu Erlong couldn't escape the attention of the Nine Stars Palace. While the group continued to check on Tang San, over a hundred soul masters had already surrounded them.
Yu Xiaogang scanned his surroundings and shouted angrily, "You Nine Stars Palace people have gone too far! How dare you treat my disciple like this! Do you know who he is?"
