Chapter 92: Shrek's Movements (Part 1)
As Xiao Yu watched Qian Renxue's departing figure, his eyes narrowed slightly. He had his own plans when it came to dealing with Qian Renxue.
Given the current trajectory of the Spirit Hall's development, Xiao Yu was certain that he would eventually come into conflict with them. However, unlike Tang San, Xiao Yu had no deep-seated hatred towards the Spirit Hall. There was no need to completely destroy the entire organization.
In Xiao Yu's eyes, the existence of the Spirit Hall was a blessing for the continent, especially for the commoner Spirit Masters.
Consider this: after the destruction of the Spirit Hall by the Tang God King, during the events of Douluo Dalu 2, evil spirit masters were everywhere, and there were countless Titled Douluo and Super Douluo-level evil spirit masters.
And look at what happened after the fall of the Spirit Hall: without the subsidies for Spirit Masters, even a child of destiny like Huo Yuhao had to rely on selling fish to pay his tuition.
The many problems that the Spirit Hall currently faced were largely the result of Bibi Dong's blind expansion after she came to power.
From the very beginning, Xiao Yu's goal had been clear: his enemy was the faction of radical fanatics led by Bibi Dong.
As for the Qian Clan, the family that had maintained a thousand-year legacy within the Spirit Hall, Xiao Yu intended to use Qian Renxue as a means to separate them from Bibi Dong's influence. In the future, the Spirit Hall should still exist, but it should function as a neutral organization for Spirit Masters.
Yes, everything was for the future development of his plans. It definitely wasn't because of any ulterior motives or inappropriate thoughts from Xiao Yu.
"By the way, this is a military camp. Behave yourself!"
At that moment, Qian Renxue's voice echoed through a soul power transmission. She didn't turn around but walked away without looking back.
...
In Heaven Dou City, at the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy.
"Dean Flender, are you really leaving the academy?"
Inside the office of the Board of Education, Meng Shenji looked regretfully at the man with the distinctive shoehorn-shaped face in front of him.
Although Meng Shenji had been removed from his position and investigated several years ago due to the conflict between the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan and Nine Stars Palace, everyone knew that he had taken the fall for the Heaven Dou Royal Family. Two years later, the situation had calmed down, and Xiao Yu no longer held any grudges about the matter. The Heaven Dou Royal Family soon reinstated him to his position.
As for the shoehorn-faced man in front of him, such a recognizable feature could only belong to Flender, the founding dean of Shrek Academy.
Flender nodded heavily. "I ask for your understanding, Commissioner Meng Shenji. Heaven Dou Imperial Academy is simply not suitable for Shrek!"
So, what was the story behind this?
It all began, much like in the original tale, after Tang San and his companions returned from the Star Dou Forest with their spirit rings. The legendary figure of the first Douluo Dalu, and prime example of "soft-rice hard-eater" Yu Xiaogang, also known as Grandmaster Yu, arrived at Shrek Academy and implemented his history-making teaching methods.
After making the Shrek Seven Devils carry rocks for a month, Yu Xiaogang was extremely confident that their strength had reached a new level. He then led them to sign up for the team battles in Soto City.
At the same time, Qin Ming, a distinguished Shrek graduate with only a thousand-year spirit ring for his fifth spirit ring, brought the Heaven Dou Imperial Battle Team to Soto City as well.
Due to the departure of Dugu Yan and Ye Lingling, who had both dropped out of the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, the Heaven Dou Imperial Battle Team now consisted of its original members—Yu Tianheng, Shi Mo, and Oslo—along with two new recruits.
One of the new members was named Xue Ying, a duchess of the Heaven Dou Empire. Her mother was the younger sister of Emperor Xue Ye. However, instead of inheriting the royal family's Swan Martial Spirit, she inherited her father's martial spirit—a scepter that controls fire elements. As the control-type Spirit Master of the team, her spirit power level was currently at rank thirty-five.
The other new member's martial spirit was even more renowned—none other than the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda, the best auxiliary martial spirit in the world. This auxiliary Spirit Master from the Heaven Dou Imperial Battle Team was Ning Li, the son of Ning Fengzhi. He was twenty years old and a rank thirty-three auxiliary-type Spirit Elder.
Although such qualifications would be considered decent outside, in the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Clan, Ning Li's talent was equivalent to being the lowest of the low. Indeed, Ning Li was the least talented among Ning Fengzhi's sons. And if it weren't for the fact that the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Clan did business with the Nine Stars Palace in elixirs, his breakthrough to rank thirty would have been uncertain.
While Ning Rongrong had once mentioned that if she hadn't gone to Shrek, she likely would have attended Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, this was merely Ning Fengzhi being courteous to the royal family. With his astuteness, how could Ning Fengzhi not see through the superficial glory of the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy? There was no way he would allow his clan's most gifted genius, Ning Rongrong, to be corrupted by the academy's atmosphere. Even if Ning Rongrong had not joined Shrek, Ning Fengzhi would have personally overseen her cultivation.
If not for the fact that the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan had recently begun to align themselves with the Heaven Dou Empire—leading even Yu Tianheng, the eldest grandson of Yu Yuanzhen, to enroll in Heaven Dou Imperial Academy—and the royal family subtly hinting at the matter several times, Ning Fengzhi might not have even placed his least talented son in the academy.
Without Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan, the Heaven Dou Imperial Battle Team's defeat against the Shrek Seven Devils came even more swiftly and decisively. Shrek's plan to lure the enemy deeper succeeded, and after a brutal beating, Yu Tianheng, deprived of the Nine Hearts Begonia's healing, was rendered incapacitated and eliminated.
Yu Tianheng, the team's captain and strongest offensive force, was the heart of the battle team. His swift elimination plunged the Heaven Dou Imperial Battle Team into chaos.
Shrek took full advantage of their confusion and launched a full-scale attack.
Xiao Wu used her teleportation to cut into the backline, and with her signature Eight-Stage Throw, she slammed Ning Li into complete disarray.
As for Ning Rongrong, under the continuous brainwashing from Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang, Flender, and Tang San—those three master manipulators—she had come to see herself as an integral part of Shrek. Watching her own brother being mercilessly thrown around by Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong felt no pity. Instead, she believed that for Shrek's honor, everything was worth it.
On the front line, Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing had completed their martial spirit fusion, and the massive Nether White Tiger, fully supported by Ning Rongrong, tore through the Heaven Dou Imperial Battle Team's defenses, eliminating both Shi Mo and Shi Mo, the defensive Spirit Masters.
In less than three minutes, only Xue Ying, Oslo, and Yu Feng were left on the battlefield. The three of them had no will left to continue the fight and immediately declared their surrender.
After the battle, Qin Ming, the Heaven Dou Imperial Battle Team's leader, and Flender had an emotional teacher-student reunion—although it was more of a touching father-son moment, really.
After a round of pleasantries and formalities, under Yu Xiaogang's guidance, the infamous Borrowing a Chicken to Lay an Egg plan was hatched. From that point onward, Shrek transformed, leaving behind its past as a lowly academy. The days of being a "wild chicken" academy were gone forever.
On their first day at the new academy, the arrogant Prince Dai Mubai, following the motto that not daring to cause trouble made one a failure, gave Prince Xue Beng and his group a thorough beating after Xue Beng deliberately provoked them.
Unfortunately, Dai Mubai couldn't reveal his true identity. Otherwise, if the third prince of the Star Luo Empire had beaten the fourth prince of the Heaven Dou Empire without even using spirit power, it would have made headlines everywhere, and the Star Luo Empire could have flaunted its superiority over the Heaven Dou Empire.
