Chapter 18 - ~|confession #16 - it's his story too|~

"She is definitely not what I wanted, what I liked. But still, the choice wasn't difficult to make. She's too amusing to let go." ~ Fang Haoran

»»——————————««

Fang Haoran never much believed in love and relationships. For him falling in love was a waste of time while getting married was always a necessity. He had planned to get married one day, at some point in life just for the sake of an heir but that plan was meant to be executed in his late thirties.

It was only because his grandfather threatened him with his inheritance and the command of the Fang Group that Fang Haoran had to prepone his plans. He was crystal clear with what he wanted from a marriage, from his wife and he told just as much to all the women he had been set up on dates with by his grandfather.

But none of those women could rise up to the standards that he had set for his future spouse. All he wanted was a sophisticated, intelligent, and elegant woman who could confidently stand by his side and handle brilliantly the responsibilities that came with the title of becoming the wife of the heir of Fang Group.

But the women he had met so far and gone on blind dates with, were either too needy and desired a romantic and fulfilling relationship while the other was classy enough for his taste. The only woman who ever came close to what he desired in his spouse chose someone else over him.

"This is ridiculous," his grandfather had grumbled. "You can't be so picky! Just choose one and get married."

"I am not going to settle for less only because none of those women matched up to my standards." he had replied in a nonchalant manner.

After 3 years of looking for a classy wife, Fang Haoran was still single and this caused a lot of tension between him and his grandfather. So much so that after he rejected his blind date number 40, his grandfather threw him out of the house and also banned him from staying at any of the properties under the Fang name.

That's what led him to stay at a hotel but when he was to pay for the room, Fang Haoran found out that all his cards and his bank accounts had been frozen. Moreover, he didn't even have cash on him so he had to ask his friend to lend him some money.

That was the day when he first met Sang Tian. He was on the phone talking with his friend Leo asking him to lend him some money when this unknown woman offered him a bunch of notes that were nowhere near enough to pay his bills.

She had looked up at him with a smile on his face and assurance in her tone that she was not going to ask him to pay her back. Never had something ever happened to him like this that's why it took him a few seconds to register what had just happened.

It amused him that someone would actually hand him their money just like that and ask for nothing in return. "Who in this selfish, cutthroat, and practical world behaves like that?" he had thought to himself.

By the time he came out of his thoughts, that woman, Sang Tian was gone. He had chuckled in amusement and put the money in his pocket. His first impression of her was that she was not an intelligent woman for handing her money to a random stranger but she was somewhat interesting as well. Just a little bit.

Fang Haoran still had those creased notes with him. He had put them in the lower drawer of his desk as memorabilia. He didn't even have the time to forget about the woman and the incident at the hotel when he met her again. This time at the nightclub, The Blue Notes.

Her being there meant that either she was one of the rich and famous or she was friends with one. At that time he hadn't made the connection yet, he did not know that she was from the Sang family.

He was at the nightclub with his friends, Leo Wang, and Jiang Shi Yi to celebrate the success of Leo's recent movie. It was when they were about to leave but his friends were still busy flirting when he felt someone's heated gaze on him. He looked around at within a second he spotted her amongst the heavy crowd and the memory of the brief interaction flooded his mind.

Before he could think about it, his lips curved up in a smirk as he noticed her appreciative stare. "Well, well," he murmured.

"Come, let's go." Shi Yi had said with a pat on his back and Fang Haoran had almost walked away from her but she caught up to him and then stuck to him like a koala.

Too drunk and not in her senses, Sang Tian had tried every cheesy, age old pickup line on him. She had clung to him, her arms around his neck and legs wrapped around his waist, and had said, "Are you a magnet? Because you sure are attracting me over here."

And then she had even licked his neck telling him that he was too sweet and she wanted to taste him some more. She had literally asked him to join her in the bed whispering the request in his ear before she bit his ear lobe.

The situation was equal parts amusing and embarrassing. But his friends thought that it was damn hilarious. His two friends were laughing like hyenas, "Looks like you got yourself a wild one, Haoran." Leo had commented while Sang Tian's friends had tried to rip their koala friend away from him.

She had held onto him so tight that she had ripped off his shirt causing his eyes to widen while both of his friends fell on the floor laughing.

Never had Fang Haoran met such a wild woman. Even though he did not like the way she had behaved with him with him that night. But Fang Haoran could not help but be amused by her as well. She was an interesting creature, so unlike the women he had met in the past.

After she had left with her friends, Fang Haoran found her bracelet lying on the floor but she was gone before he could give it back to her. He kept the bracelet deciding that he would give it back to her when they would meet the next time but Fang Haoran wasn't sure if they would ever get to meet again.

But then they did.

His grandfather had once again set him on a blind date and that day he was waiting for his date, Miss Yun when he spotted her again.

Unlike the last two times they had met, she was dressed in a comparatively conservative outfit. He could see that she had company; it clearly looked like two families meeting up to talk about marriage.

He had not meant to act like he did, was not going to phrase it like he did but he ended up doing exactly that. She had looked up at him like a deer caught in the headlights before exclaiming, "Honey!" loudly while she continued to look at him.

It did not take him much time to realize what must be going on. She had touched him as if she had complete right over him and talked to him as if they had been in a relationship for years. For a while he kept silent, letting her set the story. It was quite fascinating seeing her lie about her relationship with him because of how convincing she sounded.

He could not resist playing along and that's how Miss Yun saw them and misunderstood the situation as well. But it was for the better because Miss Yun was seemingly a delusional woman and Fang Haoran had no desire to pursue that woman.

He wasted no time in taking advantage of the situation to get rid of Miss Yun. Their little act worked for both of them and the result was in their favor. Once again, Miss Sang Tian did not fail to amuse him and intrigue him.

She had also left him another token like their previous two meetings. The earring that she had dropped whispered to him with assurance that they would meet once again. He could feel that soon they would cross paths once again and that they did.

This time it took them over a week to meet again and meanwhile, Fang Haoran found himself struck in a difficult position.

To make sure that he would not ruin his 41st blind date, Grandfather Fang hired someone to keep an eye on Fang Haoran and had also ordered him to telecast to him the live footage of his date with Miss Yun.

But what his grandfather saw was him and Sang Tian putting up an act in front of her family to avoid the arranged marriage alliance and now his grandfather was fixated on Sang Tian. Grandfather Fang assumed that Fang Haoran was truly in a secret relationship with Sang Tian and she was the reason he was deliberately sabotaging all his blind dates.

For some reason that Fang Haoran was yet to comprehend he did not clear the misunderstanding but frankly, even if he tried to he did not think that his grandfather would believe him.

So he remained silent and continued to avoid his grandfather's questions. He busied himself with business when once again Sang Tian was brought back into his life when she requested an urgent meeting with him.

They met again and she revealed to him the messy situation she was stuck in. As she explained her situation to him, Fang Haoran could not help but be amazed at the woman in front of him. She was genuinely helpful and kind but she also had a talent for getting herself stuck into messy situations.

To him, Sang Tian was a fascinating creature whom his family believed that he was in love with.

So he decided to take advantage of the situation once again.

It was at that moment, that night that Fang Haoran decided that he was going to marry Sang Tian. She was not exactly his type but she certainly was amusing.

And frankly, he was tired of going on all those dates and wanted to settle down. And Sang Tian seemed to be the best choice. Life would be really interesting with her by his side.
