Chapter 7. Types of Quests
Next, we were eating breakfast at the tavern attached to the Adventurer's Guild.
Taverns are often associated with drinking, but this place offers a wide variety of dishes and functions as a restaurant.
As proof of this, it was crowded with different patrons compared to the night. If you look closely, you can see that some people have been drinking since the morning.
"Whew..."
I want to cut down on food costs as much as possible, so I only have bread with a fried egg for breakfast. As I was nibbling on it, I suddenly yawned.
"You couldn't sleep yesterday?"
"Hmm... It was the first day in this world, so..."
To be honest, it's because a beautiful girl like Lucia was sleeping next to me, and I even heard her masturbating.
In the end, I was in agony and couldn't sleep even after I relieved myself.
Thanks to this, I get sleepy while eating.
I want to complain, but I can't say to her face that I couldn't sleep because of her masturbation.
"If you're so sleepy, why don't you take a nap for an hour or so?"
Distracted by Lucia, who is eating the squishy bread, I shake my head.
"It's okay to stay up all night for a day or two, but what are we going to do today? One hundred million minas are a lot of money."
"Of course, I have an idea. If you want to make more money than you do now, you need to take quests that pay well."
Exactly. According to Lucia, the quest she received yesterday seems to be D-rank.
The rank of the quest goes up to A, and the reward increases with the rank of the quest.
"Then I'm going to take a high-rank quest today, and I want to save enough money to live for at least a few days."
"That's the problem. We're D-rank adventurers, and we usually don't get quests with a difficulty level higher than our current rank."
"Let's move up the ranks. How do we go up?"
"If your complete quests every day, your reputation in the guild will increase, and you will be able to increase your rank."
"That's what you mean."
"For a while, we have no choice but to do D-rank quests and steadily increase our rating."
"That's it..."
I sigh heavily.
I knew it, but it doesn't seem easy to make a lot of money.
"Can't you earn a reputation quickly and rise to a high rank?"
"That's impossible. The fact that the quest reward is high also means it's dangerous. If you're not strong or capable, you won't be able to complete the quest even if you can take it. It's safer and more secure to slowly build up your skills."
It's simple: don't hurry and don't be impatient. It seems the only way to make money for now is to do quests like yesterday.
"Then you're going to do another archaeological quest today, and I'm going to clean."
I'm just wiping the boobs of a female adventurer. It's not hard, it's a happy thing. Just remembering the sight of her boobs yesterday makes me smirk a little.
But unlike me, Lucia shakes her head from side to side.
"Oh, I can't do a quest like that!"
"So, a Subjugation Quest?"
"Yes, there are several types of quests, such as exploring ruins and dungeons. The quest is to defeat the demons that appear near the town or are breeding abnormally. The excavation of the ruins that I did yesterday is called a chore quest. Other chore quests include collecting ores and medicinal herbs. The low difficulty level and low rewards are a feature of chore quests, but they are popular because they have the advantage of being able to earn money safely."
"It's better to have higher pay."
"Of course, the other quests are dangerous, not to mention the subjugation quests and the exploration of ruins and dungeons. They involve fighting dangerous monsters. As a result, even if the rank of the quest is the same, the reward is higher than that of a chore quest."
Even with the same rank, you can earn more money from exploration and subjugation quests than from chore quests.
In that case, it might be more profitable to complete the latter quests for reputation within the guild.
"Also, there are urgent quests issued by guilds and countries, and these are often subject to order rank restrictions depending on the quest content and the level of danger, so it doesn't matter to us D-rank people."
Urgent quests from countries and guilds smell like you can make a lot of money. But you may be in danger of that.
After all, is it a fast way to earn money by increasing the rank?
"So, you said we were going to do a subjugation quest today, right?"
"Yes, it's a more goddess-like job than digging the ground with a pickaxe!"
"It's okay to be enthusiastic, but will I be, okay?"
After all, I'm just a student from peaceful Japan. I have no power; how can I fight in a fantasy world? As if to reassure me, who seemed anxious, Lucia proudly holds out.
"I know," she says, "that I wouldn't make you fight, a man. I'll take down the monster, so please watch me from behind. Maybe you'll fall in love with this goddess when you see her ability."
Lucia laughs loudly throughout the tavern.
But this girl is a goddess apprentice. I wonder if it's okay. She seems to be full of confidence, but I don't know where that confidence comes from.
She looks like a cute girl, so she doesn't have a strong image. In this world, is being strong looking like this?
At this moment, it seems that goddesses are a profession that defeats monsters called Ancient Blood. But from my point of view, it's only been a day since I've known her, and my impression is of a sexually active girl who was secretly masturbating.
"It's okay, if you're confident, I'll leave it to you."
"Yes, I hope you feel like you're on a big ship!"
I don't know why, but I can't help feeling like I'm on a sinking ship.
"So, what kind of monster is the quest to fight?"
"It's been raining a lot lately, so slime has been popping up quite a bit!"
"Slime?"
In this fantasy world, it's a pretty common liquid-based monster.
However, I've heard that slimes have an image of being weak monsters, but if they exist, they're strong monsters. I wonder what it would be like in this world.
"I'll ask you, but slimes are weak, aren't they?"
"Of course, you should stop being an adventurer if you lose to a slime! Aha!"
"Don't say that. It only sounds like a pretence."
