Chereads / Half Bros / Chapter 28 - Sticks and Stones

Chapter 28 - Sticks and Stones

Madison High School

(Gym)

(Freddie setting up wooden boards for Mark)

Freddie: Isn't this too much, I don't want my friends to have to pop like a water balloon.

Timmy: That would be inaccurate, the likely outcome would be breaking 60% of the bones in his hand.

Thomas: I heard breaking a leg was good luck but I guess it is the hand for material artists (laughs).

Mark: Save your comments after the chop.

(Mark breaking 8 boards with one hand)

Mark: You can cheer now.

(All three of them clapping)

Freddie: Awesome, Mark.

Thomas: Yay dude, you could put beavers out of business and out of home (laughs).

Timmy: Looks like you're more than ready for the karate tournament in a couple days.

Jim: Then you haven't seen me.

(Jim and karate club walks in)

Mark: Jim!

Thomas: Is this a friend of yours?

Jim: He looks up to me, only because he's always lying on the ground.

(Jim karate club laughs)

(Mark getting mad)

Mark: He's on the team I'm up against for the karate tournament.

Jim: When he says tournament he means free trophies day.

(Jim and karate club laughs)

(Mark getting angry)

(Mark grab his shoulder)

Mark: I bet you say again…

(Jim flips Mark on the ground)

Freddie: Mark!

(Freddie, Thomas, and Timmy help Mark up)

Jim: That's 5 flips for me. 0 for you.

(Jim and his karate club walks away)

Thomas: Don't worry Mark, that's luck.

Mark: No he's right. I never beat him in a match.

Freddie: How you best fighter I know.

Mark: Is because Jim always says things that ticks me off. He likes his lives in my head.

Timmy: Which would be impossible in multiple ways.

Mark: I just can't focus when someone insults me.

Thomas: Not anymore.

Mark: What are you talking about?

Thomas: I mean  me and Timmy will teach you how to ignore insults. Just call us your hard head teachers (laughs).

Mark: I can't believe you're my only hope.

(Next day)

School Library

(Thomas, Timmy, Mark, and Freddie)

Mark: So how is this going to help me beat Jim.

Timmy: Simple, you said Jim insults mess you up. Which means there's one logical solution.

Thomas: Block him out or in this case chop him out (laughs).

Freddie: I can't believe your first time you used that joke.

Thomas: Me too.

Mark: Focus  people.

Timmy: Like we learned from pre school. Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me. Not counting other things can damage human bones, the meaning is accurate, words can't deal any damage.

Thomas: That's one of the things we can agree on, bro.

Mark: I get what you're saying but just because those words can't affect you physically doesn't mean it can mess your head.

Thomas: That's because you let them.

(Alex walking by)

Thomas: Hey Alex, can you come over here?

Alex: What do you want?

Timmy: We are trying to teach Mark, a important lesson.

Alex: Well he's doomed.

Timmy: You can help.

Alex: Why in the world would I do anything for you?

Thomas: You can insulted me and Timmy for 8 minutes.

Alex: Is this heaven?

Thomas: If it was someone got a lot of explaining to do (laughs).

Alex: I've been waiting for this a long time, I even wrote it down.

(Alex pull out a long piece of paper)

Mark: You just keep that to you all the time.

Alex: I'm talking here.

Timmy: This will be interesting.

Alex: Yes, that only emotion you can express because your inability to feel emotions makes you seem dimmer than a lamp. Is almost as bad as you brother's poor sense of humor that makes him like a clown with a mental condition.

Timmy: Dimer in a literal or metaphorical sense.

Thomas: Well laughter is the best medicine (laughs).

Alex: Your personality is clearly a side effect of your father problems with women.

Freddie: Hey!

Mark: That's going way too far.

Timmy: All people have relationship problems.

Thomas: Yay like your problem of not having one (laughs).

Alex: You two are too odd to insult, I'm leaving.

(Alex walks away)

Freddie: Dang guys you two are bulletproof.

Thomas: Just call us the bros of steel (laughs).

Mark: It's impressive you are not affected by insults but I'm not like you.

Timmy: Not yet.

Lee House, Backyard

Mark: How is seeing your new pool going to help.

Timmy: Can walk over a wooden pole.

Mark: Of course.

Thomas: Good, because you're going walk on it over the pool, blindfolded.

Freddie: I hope you brought extra clothes.

(Mark walking over wooden pole)

Mark: This is easier than I thought.

Thomas: Just how easily fail that test.

Mark: Hey.

(Mark losing balance)

Timmy: Too bad your physical strength doesn't match your brain.

Mark: My brain is tough as the rest of me.

(Mark losing balance)

Freddie: Out of the four us people can guess who is the dumb one.

Mark: Not cool…

(Mark falls in the pool)

Thomas: This is the funniest game of Marco Polo I ever played (laughs). Get it because of his name and he was standing on the…

Timmy and Freddie: We get it.

(Mark get out of the pool)

Mark: Just forget this, I'm leaving.

Thomas: We're trying to help you.

Mark: I know but it is not helping me ignore jerks like Jim.

Timmy: Why do you even care what he says?

Mark: I don't care about him at all.

Timmy: Then just start caring less.

Freddie: What do you mean?

Timmy: I don't really get emotions like most people but I do realize that you shouldn't let people you barely know or care about twist them against you. You are a great person and friend that is good in plenty of things, especially karate.

Mark: Thanks Timmy I needed that.

Thomas: You can thank him by karate kicking Jim butt.

Madison High School

(Gym)

(Karate tournament)

(Thomas, Timmy, and Freddie watching from seats)

Timmy: Is tied. Mark's match will decide who wins.

(Mark about to fight Jim)

Jim: Ready to lose your little runt.

(Mark not saying anything)

Referee: Begin.

(Mark and Jim fighting)

Jim: Nice moves I guess being losers helps you learn.

Mark: Yes it does. Like helping me find where to flip you.

(Mark grabs Jim left hand and throws on the floor)

Referee: Match over, winner Mark and Madison High School.

(Crowd cheering)

(Thomas, Timmy, and Friends walk down and congratulate Mark)

Freddie: You totally schooled him.

Thomas: Yay looks like he needs to repeat a grade (laughs).

Timmy: Excellent work Mark.

Mark: Couldn't have done it without you guys.

Jim: No it was just luck he beat me. I'm better than you.

Timmy: If that was true you wouldn't have the need to constantly insult him to get the upper hand. Which is a sign of your fear and immaturity.

(Jim tries to karate chop Timmy)

(Timmy grabs his hand and throws him on the ground)

Freddie: Wow how you do that.

Timmy: Being driven by personal insults can lead to hard lessons.

Thomas: Yay, ground hard (laughs).
