For half an hour the four just rested as the plane flew through the air. The Female soldier was looking lost as she was still trying to come to grips with the loss of her city and her squad. Gerry was gazing out the window, the sat phone in his hand, trying to come up with something to tell his wife, and Thierry. If he didn't find something to give to the U.N then his family would be shipped back out to land, and into the path of the dead. He knew Thierry would put them somewhere remote, but that wasn't absolute safety like the boat.
As the two looked lost Akane grabbed some booze on a nearby cart and started a conversation with the soldier. "Akane," Akane said, raising a hand to the soldier. In it were a few bottles of booze that the woman took without a second thought. she downed one before taking a breath and getting control of her emotions.
"Segen," she said plainly as she chugged another bottle. Akane gazed at the women before sighing out.
"Six," Akane said while sipping her own bottle. Segen looked at her and the little Japanese woman had a somber expression. "I've lost six teammates over the years. The life of a merc is rough you know, to many missions can made people lazy, or one missions intel was bad and we were fucked from the beginning." Segen felt the sorrow of the woman in front of her and for some reason it made her feel better. "I don't know what they said to you before you got on the plane, but trust me that it's better to be alive to tell their tale than to die with them forgotten."
Segan laughed with wet eyes as that was exactly what her teammate had said, after that she broke down and held her head to cry out her pain. Akane just got up and patted her shoulder before walking off. She wasn't going to trust sudo-plot armor for her and Logan being teammates with Gerry. As she walked down the aisles she pulled out her broken half DS and that look of sorrow came back. "We had just made it to the elite four..." she said wistfully at the great loss.

As Logan watched his wife head down the aisle he looked over to Gerry. The man now lost on what to do and due to Segan being okay needed, really, just a light push. He pushed on the man's shoulder and snorted. Gerry looked over but still was out of it. Logan shook his head and took the sat phone from the man and turned it around. He popped open the back and took the near dead battery out. He pulled out a fresh one he had since the beginning, just in case the thing died for movie reasons, and popped that one in. with a fresh battery he handed the phone back.
"Raise the chin boss," Logan said as he leaned his head back. "It ain't over till your heart stops, and I don't believe a man with a family he loves is gonna quiet till that happens. Caused at that point you would be just another liability..." Logan said before relaxing fully and taking a half away power nap. Gerry's eyes grew brighter at his friend's hopeful outlook and got his fears under control. Then he got to thinking as Logan's words played into his mind.
"Liability?" he questioned out loud as his mind started to turn gears. memories flashed as time and time again the dead failed to attack certain people, homeless, blind, ill... "the sick, there blind to the sick?" he said out loud as well before making a call. Logan smiled slightly as he let his body relax as Gerry got to work. It felt good being the one who gave the main character the last piece of the puzzle.

Karin was depressed as she folded the sheets of her bunk. More and more people were being kicked off the ship. Each one that went had her worried that her family would be next. she looked over to Maria who was also busing herself as the kids played together somewhere else on the ship. It was the couple's request to have the two stay as their collateral, which the captain had agreed. The latino mother was thrilled and cried at the two's generosity, though truthfully they just wanted to make sure the two survived for more Cine-points at the end of the movie.
If it made them heroes? Well brownie points were always great. Just as Karin went back to her folding the sat phone rang. her heart leapt as he scrambled for it and Maria looked over hopeful of good news.
"Gerry? Are you okay? Where are you, baby? What's happening?" She started to fire off rapidly. she then grew silent as Gerry talked. "I'll find him," Karin said before starting to walk away. Maria stopped her. "Are Akane and Logan okay? Maria wants to know...They're fine" she said and Maria breathed in relife. They were still her and Tomás's life line and their death would have them on the next copter out. Karin then ran out of the room and down the halls as Gerry waited on the plane.
"Gerry! you're alive! where are you?" Thierry said as the phone was handed to him. She had found him in the situation hall and the man was surprised and thrilled at the news. He had just gotten off the phone with Dr. Fassbach who had left what he thought was a doomed or already dead Gerry.
"I'm fine, Bonnie and Clyde got me out of Philly and they got me out of Jerusalem, Listen!" Gerry said and Thierry grew serious. "I made it on the last flight out, but I need the nearest medical research facility, A.C.D.C., a W.H.O., something that makes vaccines. Then find me the closest airport to the damn place."
"I don't understand?" Thierry questioned but Gerry wasn't in the mood to explain.
"Just get it done, and tell the doc that weakness is the weakness" Gerry said and Thierry nodded.
"Okay, okay, I'll get right on it!, but Jerry, I still don't know where you are?" Thierry asked and Gerry looked to the cockpit. walking over he banged on the door holding his phone up to the security camera. It took a few minutes before the door opened to an annoyed pilot. Gerry held his phone to the man.
"You're going to want to take this," he said with a firmness in his voice.
#####
"Here," the airline pilot said, handing back his phone. Thierry had done his job and used his authority to get the plane on the right track. "We made contact with Cardiff Airport in Wales. Your people directed us to a W.H.O research facility nearby, but they are not sure it's still operational. This is the location" the pilot said, handing Gerry a piece of paper with the address.
"Can we make it?" Gerry asked, taking the paper. The pilot nodded and closed off the cockpit to secure the flight. Gerry sighed and got back on the phone. He took a solid thirty minutes to take with his wife before hanging up and walking back over to his group and took a seat to rest.
"Orders?" Logan said with closed eyes. Segan looked over at the two with a look that wanted something to do. Gerry relayed the new destination to the two soldiers who both nodded before Gerry looked around.
"Where is Akane?" he asked and Segan answered.
"She left to go to the bathroom or something?" Segan said.
"She doesn't like to sit around for too long without something to do, and her Gameboy broke getting out of Jerusalem" Logan gave more detail. "She'll be back when she finds something to hold her attention." Gerry nodded and took Logan's initiative and took a power nap. while the three rested Akane was sitting down next to a young man.
"You gotta jump higher, you're not gonna get past this part without doing what I showed you" she said as the boy played some mario on an old Gameboy color. While she had gotten up to find the elevator with the hidden zombie, she didn't think there would be four of them. not knowing which one would have the dead, and not risking the attention of the flight attendant, who was already looking at her gun toting self with fear, she decided to just find something to do until the trigger happened. "Oh, you died, my turn" she said before taking the gameboy and showing the kid how it's done. The damn trigger should be a ways away anyway so she got invested in the game a little bit more.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking. I'm glad to report that we are on our final approach to Cardiff Airport in Wales. All European airports are under lockdown, But we have been given priority status and cleared for landing. We will be allowed to disembark. We are very, very lucky." the pilot said over the intercom before cutting it off. his co-pilot looked at him with a groan and the Captain sighed. "(I don't want to hear it Ivan)" the Captain said in russian.
"(You just had to say that last bit, you just had to)" Ivan said, shaking his head. the Captain sighed and hated how superstitious his friend was. It was good to be hopeful, and they were up in the air away from the dead for god sakes. Meanwhile outside the cockpit Logan opened his eyes and held onto an adventurous chihuahua that had hopped out of its owner's lap. He was the type of guy who loved animals and hated when they died in movies.
So he would make sure this one went with the girls when they landed. As he stroked the dog he saw Akane reenter the front compartment quickly looking around. He raised a brow before she flinched and looked back at the closed curtain. she peeked into it and then silently cursed as Gerry craned his neck around.
"Something's wrong," he said to Logan and Logan nodded his head. Akane looked back to Logan and the dog in his arms and raised her brows in annoyance. Logan continued to keep his brow raised as Gerry got up and walked towards Akane. The man was focused on the curtain and missed the silent mouthed words of the couple.
"Why do you have the dog!" Akane asked.
"Because I wanted to make sure he was okay, why?" Logan answered while Akane sighed and rolled her eyes. She had forgotten her husband's little movie watching quirk. as Gerry got to her she made sure he was silent as she crawled over to the other side of the cabin. As Gerry took the woman's advice he gazed into the second cabin and flinched back. The dead were swarming and biting every living thing behind the group. Logan saw the look and then gazed at his wife. She was already starting to stack luggage, as the rest of the people upfront realized the situation.
Gerry was quick to organize and follow Akane's lead. Soon people were stacking luggage and Logan was continuing the mouthed conversation. "What happened!" he mouthed and shouted at her.
"There were four elevators, I couldn't remember which one had the dead, and I was waiting for the dog to tell me" she said back and Logan gave her a look.
"Why wait, just knock and see which one knocks back?" he said and she paused as she processed that thought. Logan also had another thought. "What were you doing all this time?" he asked and she looked down as she stacked another case. Logan then narrowed his eyes as he had thoughts of what. before she could answer him though the dog in his hand decided to bark, and loudly. Everyone looked over as Logan closed its mouth, though the dog still growled slightly. Gerry looked back to the second compartment and saw the dead looking back.
"Shit" he said as the dead screamed and rushed the barricades.
