Chapter 13 - Lightning Calamity Serpent, Trickery, and Escape

--- Chapter 13 ---

Chaos befalls the Earth Hunting City.

Sun Yi, Lu Xia, and Feng Yumeng looked down from the city's tower with a solemn look on their faces.

"Young Master Yi, do you have an escape talisman?" Feng Yumeng asked while rummaging through her spatial storage.

An escape talisman is an artifact made by writing mystic art onto suitable paper, which anyone could use by ripping it and transforming themselves into a fleeting light to escape.

The range is varied, though.

However, the cheapest escape talisman alone could let someone escape a hundred miles away and cost around 1,000 low-grade Primal Qi Stones to purchase.

Sun Yi's mother has prepared many talismans for Sun Yi, and most are escape talismans. They are not the highest quality in the market, but Lu Wan'er could still get high-quality talismans.

Sun Yi glanced at Feng Yumeng and nodded, "I have enough escape talisman for myself and Sister Xia."

"However, it was useless because the barrier probably had a repelling effect."

Feng Yumeng smiled, "Yes, but we can still escape as long as we make a crack in the force field. Well, It's good that you have your own escape talisman. I only have one more extra talisman, so I can't bring you two simultaneously."

"Crack, huh?" Sun Yi pulled a black talisman with red-inked 'attack' written on it.

Feng Yumeng's eyes widened, "P-Perfect-grade spiritual offensive talisman."

"Where did you get such expensive stuff?"

"I still have more." Sun Yi smiled and pulled nine more offensive talismans."

"..." Feng Yumeng's eyelid twitches.

Feng Yumeng believed Sun Yi is from a prominent background, but this is too excessive. What kind of background would give ten spiritual offensive talismans to a young man like him?

As much as Feng Yumeng wanted to ask, the situation wasn't proper for such a thing.

Bam!

Flickering purple lightning appeared near them.

The city's tower fell, and Lu Xia grabbed Sun Yi by the collar before jumping off.

"The vengeful spirit." Feng Yumeng followed them and glanced back, seeing a shadowy figure with crimson eyes. She looked around and noticed countless black-robed individuals surrounding the area.

Lu Xia landed on the ground with Sun Yi, "Are you alright?"

Sun Yi nodded and activated his Illusion-breaking Eyes again, "We got surrounded."

"Yes, this is not a very good situation." Lu Xia frowned unhappily. From her senses alone, she could tell these cultists are early-stage Spiritual Realm Experts.

Even though Lu Xia was close to reaching the 7th level of the Spiritual Realm, she couldn't handle this many enemies.

"Use these." Sun Yi suddenly handed a stack of offensive talismans to Lu Xia.

Lu Xia was dumbfounded, "These... Aren't these too much, Yi?"

Sun Yi breathed in and said, "We are not in a situation where we could save things."

"Young Master Yi is correct. If we didn't get away from this, we would get dragged into hell." Feng Yumeng landed near them.

She enviously stared at the stack of offensive talismans, "Let's break the encirclement first."

"Then, I will fight till the end." Lu Xia regained her confidence, brandishing her spear.

Bam! Crack!

A cultist was sent flying by the vengeful spirit and crashed near them.

Sun Yi, Lu Xia, and Feng Yumeng couldn't determine the cultist's gender as a distorted voice came from the black robe, "For the Thunder God!"

Lu Xia thrust her spear and blasted the cultist away, watching it explode with an electric charge.

Boom!

"For the Thunder God!" More cultists surrounded the vengeful spirit and got sent flying.

Sun Yi gazed far away at the inn and whistled, calling for rides.

Auuu~!

Roar!

Rakh and Azure appeared, forcing their way to Sun Yi.

'Demonic Beasts with bloodline?' Feng Yumeng raised her brows. She used her ribbon as a sword and swept the cultist away.

"Let's go!" Sun Yi had an enhanced battle knife on the left hand and talent on the other.

Sun Yi ran toward Rakh and Azure, having Lu Xia protect him on the left and Feng Yumeng on the right.

They charged at the crowd of cultists, and Lu Xia tore the offensive talismans, causing a sharp whirlwind to sweep them away.

Sun Yi dodged some corpses and rubbles, jumping toward the night wolf with anticipation. He grabbed Lu Xia's arm, so she sat behind him.

"Young Lady Feng, ride the tiger!" He shouted at Feng Yumeng.

"Got it!" Feng Yumeng hurriedly repelled some cultists and sat on the azure tiger.

They rushed out of the city center, leaving the messy battlefield.

However, they couldn't help but feel dread behind their back.

Shudder!

Sun Yi shivered because his instinct told him to stop. He grabbed Night Wolf's neck and made it stop.

He also kicked the azure tiger's stomach and made it crash to the nearest ruined building.

ROOOOOARR!

BOOOOOOM!!

A high-powered purple lightning beam tore through the path before them, erasing it from existence.

All that was left was scorching ground.

Sun Yi, Lu Xia, and Feng Yumeng swallow their saliva.

They glanced at the source of the lightning beam and saw a man in a cultist robe facing the vengeful spirit.

"Lightning Calamity Serpent! Today, you will be mine!" Said the cultist man. He exuded the presence of a peak Spiritual Realm Expert.

Roar!

The vengeful spirit revealed its appearance.

It was a serpent with glimmering silver scales, having a length of over fifteen meters and the wideness of an adult human. Electricity flickered around the serpent's body, making its crimson eyes shine brightly.

"P-Peak Demonic Beast. Peak Demonic Beast that has transformed into a vengeful spirit!" Feng Yumeng cried in horror.

"In other words, a half-step Wicked Beast..." Lu Xia whispered while biting her lips. She glanced at Sun Yi and found him bizarrely calm.

Sun Yi gazed at the Lightning Calamity Serpent and used his potential value scanner.

Potential value: 1.100.000.

Potential aura: Purple Thunderclouds.

Sun Yi hissed, "Over a million potential value."

"What the hell is a creature like this doing in a newbie town?"

"Don't tell me..."

Sun Yi looked around the area and spotted a familiar green-clothed young man lying on the ground with a severed left arm.

'Zhou Kai.' Sun Yi grimaced.

'Does this scenario happen because of him?'

'Or is it because I stole Zhou Kai's lucky encounter?'

Sun Yi's mind entered a solving puzzle state. His adrenaline and anxiety drive him to derive many plans, but when he sees Zhou Kai, dark and egoistic thoughts fill his mind.

Sun Yi doesn't have a problem with Zhou Kai personally because they don't know each other. They only met once today in the bazaar.

Still, the current situation forced Sun Yi to view everything he deemed helpful as a tool.

Sun Yi's blue eyes slowly turned crimson. A shadow covered his face, making it hard to see his expression.

'Right, I'm doing this for my own survival.' Sun Yi's eyes blazed with a blazing spirit to survive.

'As long as me and Xia are alive...'

Sun Yi suddenly stabbed himself in the thigh and limped his way to Zhou Kai, leaving Lu Xia and Feng Yumeng confused.

"Yi?"

"Young Master Yi?"

"Stay back..." Sun Yi answered indifferently.

Sun Yi approached the injured protagonist and kneeled, "Hey, are you alright?"

"Who..." Zhou Kai's eyes are dim. It seems he was half-conscious.

'Perfect.' Sun Yi pulled a recovery pill and stuffed it into Zhou Kai's mouth, causing his injury to stabilize. He shook Zhou Kai a few times, and the protagonist quickly sobered up.

Zhou Kai, who regained consciousness, stared at Sun Yi and whispered in surprise, "You're... That guy in the bazaar."

"Yes, it's me." Sun Yi smiled weakly.

"I need your help."

He pointed at his limping leg, "As you can see, I'm injured. I can't run from this place."

Zhou Kai stared at Sun Yi's injury and pitied him, forgetting that his left arm was severed.

"What kind of help?" Zhou Kai's heroic heart stirred.

"My sister. I saw her getting caught by one of the cultists." Sun Yi pointed at the area near the silver serpent and the cultist leader. He put on a miserable look. Tears are running from his eyes.

Zhou Kai stared at the serpent-shaped monster and nodded, "Such a powerful monster. I don't think your sister is still..."

"SHE IS STILL ALIVE! MY SISTER IS STILL ALIVE!" Sun Yi roared while pulling Zhou Kai's collar.

"Please..."

"Please help her."

Zhou Kai was stunned by Sun Yi's emotional acts. His heroic heart blazed this time.

"Okay, I will help you."

"What is your sister's appearance and name?"

Sun Yi's face brightened, "Her name is Lin Ling. She's nine years old and wore a blue dress."

"Take this. It is an escape talisman. Please get Lin Ling away from this place and bring her to safety!" Sun Yi quickly handed an ominous red talisman to Zhou Kai.

Zhou Kai has never seen a talisman in his life. Even then, he knew about their infamous existence and longed to see one.

He didn't expect Sun Yi to have one.

Of course, this ominous red talisman isn't an escape talisman.

Zhou Kai breathed in, "Leave it to me."

After that, Zhou Kai bit the talisman and ran into the chaotic battlefield.

Sun Yi watched Zhou Kai's back, and his expression turned normal, having this extreme coldness on it.

"Thank you for your service. I will remember you always, Zhou Kai." Sun Yi turned around and returned to Lu Xia's side.

He ate a recovery pill, and the injured thigh returned to normal.

"Let's go." He hurried Lu Xia and Feng Yumeng.

"We don't have much time."

Riding wolf and tiger, the three of them left the battlefield and went to the nearest entrance of Earth Hunting City.

...

Zhao Kai's Pov.

I cautiously glanced at the battlefield and looked for my benefactor's younger sister.

He must be desperate to save his younger sister but couldn't do it because of his injured thigh.

"Lin Ling," I said while hiding from these black-robed people.

"Nine years old."

"Blue dress."

"Where are you..." I arrived at the city center and saw a massive silver snake and the cultist leader fighting. I was amazed by their prowess.

However, I quickly remembered my mission.

Bam!

A stray attack hit me.

Cough!

I crashed into a building and coughed a mouthful.

Laying face down, I can feel the escape talisman between my lips.

"Hmm?" The cultist leader landed near me.

"What is a low-leveled Spiritual Realm Kid doing here?" His cold voice ridiculed me.

Damn it!

I'm here to save someone.

I gritted my teeth and looked up, seeing the silver serpent charge an unfathomable amount of Spiritual Qi.

My eyes widened.

If that attack hit me, I would die.

I frantically crawled like a worm and made the cultist man laugh.

"Pitiful little worm. Let me show you the power of the Thunder God Cult's chief, Ren Tiannan!" The cultist leader laughed out loud and also released an unfathomable amount of Spiritual Qi, making several lightning orbs.

Horror struck my heart.

'I'm sorry, I can't keep my promise...' I thought, remembering the sight of my desperate benefactor earlier. I bit the red talisman with all my might, wanting to escape from this place.

Kreak!

The cultist leader noticed that I had ripped an escape talisman. Hehe.

"Wait, that talisman!"

"How did you get it-!" Before the cultist leader could finish his word, a bright crimson light enveloped me and everyone within a 300-meter radius.

All of a sudden, I felt extreme heat coming from the talisman.

"YOU BASTARD!"

"YOU JUST USED A HEAVEN KILLING TALISMAN!!" An unwilling roar escaped the cultist leader's mouth.

He looks aggravated.

"I CURSE YOU IN THE NAME OF THUNDER GOD! YOU HERETIC FOOL!!"

'What? Killing Talisman??' I was confused.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!

....

...

...

A pillar of hell flame rose from the city center and engulfed everything within a 300-meter radius with extreme heat and destruction.

Everything turned into charred dust in a matter of seconds.

The electric barrier shattered, allowing the fiery pillar to shine the wilderness and swept everything with shockwaves.

And that's how a protagonist ends his own life.

Several kilometers away, Sun Yi watched the burning city emotionlessly.

After living in this new world for over two months, Sun Yi finally realized his mindset was naive.

Primal Qi World is the world of the strong.

If Sun Yi wants to survive, he must do anything, including dragging others down.

He must be the most cunning person in the world.

No, Sun Yi must be the biggest egoist!

'Fine, villain it is...' Sun Yi felt his soul shrouded by darkness.
