I dashed towards my room. The way Cassian effortlessly stirred up my emotions was maddening. He makes my blood boil .With trembling hands, I slammed the door shut and bolted it.
But even through the thick wood, I could hear his heavy footsteps echoing up the stairs and down the hallway. Panic surged within me. "Shit, shit," I muttered under my breath.
Cassian's voice boomed from outside,. "Aria? Open the goddamn door!"
"Leave me alone, please, Cassian," I called back, hoping he would relent.
Instead, his threats grew fiercer. "Open the door, or I swear I will break it down into goddamn pieces!"
An irrepressible surge of sarcasm bubbled up within me, and I couldn't resist mocking his words. "Open the door, or I will break it down into goddamn pieces," I mimicked, taunting him through the barrier.
His response was immediate, filled with anger. "Don't you fucking mock me!" The force of his pounding on the door reverberated through the room.
