The diner Anna took us to was a quaint place that looked still in the 1960s. I loved the chrome finish on everything, and the tall glass cups piled high with milkshakes and whipped cream gave me nostalgic vibes; it was rather soothing.
As we drank our milkshakes and shared a basket of fries, I explained what happened while I had been separated from them.
"Oh, Michael. Yeah, I think I've heard Ryan mention him before. He's one of the people the rave hires to hype things up and get people dancing. It's cute that he took a liking to you in the sea of people he was working on," Anna interjected as I explained.
"Oh! So, you and Ryan are close?" I asked, tempted to pick Anna's brain for more information on Ryan.
Anna shrugged. "Well, I wouldn't say close; I'd say…friends based on proximity to Rachel," she replied and smiled, though the smile didn't reach her eyes. She had a few issues with Ryan.
"Anyway, continue; what happened after you two ended up in the room?" Judy cut in.
I blushed and slurped hard on my milkshake.
"No…you two were going at it?" Anna gasped, holding onto her milkshake with a gleam in her eyes.
"Yes. And Ryan just suddenly burst in and started talking about how I was engaged, and how I was betraying Rachel! I have barely had time to digest that I'm engaged, yet Rachel seems to have made formal announcements to everyone she knows. Does that guy know how to slow down?" I replied, exasperated.
Anna sat back with a thoughtful expression. "So Ra- Ryan walked in on you two doing it….now that you think about it, Ryan probably could have seen you in the crowd. Micheal is dressed in the official Rave colors to make it easy to spot ushers and staff, so he probably already knew you were making out with a guy out in the center of it all. Maybe that's why he busted you two; he probably had been trailing the two of you," Anna replied.
I sat back in awe. "Right. I remember glancing up at the DJ area before we left the room, and I didn't see Ryan up there then."
"But… how would Ryan, Rachel's cousin, be able to recognize Chris as Rachel's fiancé?" Judy asked thoughtfully.
After a few moments, Anna pulled out her phone and showed Judy a picture.
"Dude, rich people are next level. It looks like an obituary," Judy said and laughed.
