Chapter 2 - It had been beautiful

Although it was a bit cold and dark for Willem, he stayed hidden there and never went back. He couldn't! How could he go back after what had happened? While he was lost in his own thoughts, he suddenly started hearing footsteps. And then he heard branches breaking and bushes moving, as if there might be something there. Willem didn't move and watched. He kept his gaze fixed on the door.It was dead silent.

"Who the hell could that be? Does someone already know what happened?" he thought to himself.

He kept staring at the door. He did this for an hour until he realized that whoever it was, had been gone for a long time.

The next morning, Willem cautiously opened the door of the shed, but the old hinges creaked loudly. Carefully, he surveyed his surroundings. Luckily, there was nothing and no one. He walked to the stack of wood and looked for footprints. There was nothing. He found that very strange. But he couldn't do anything else.A little while later, Willem was standing calmly outside until he started hearing voices. He quickly looked around and saw two men approaching. Those men looked big and strong and were both wearing black jackets. One of them was also wearing a red hat. Willem ran quickly back to the shed, but unfortunately, it was already too late. One of those men had already spotted him at the last moment. Willem noticed that quickly and didn't run back to the shed but deeper into the woods. The men started running quickly after him. Willem was fast, but those men didn't give up.

"Hey kid, stop or it'll be worse for you!" one of them yelled.

Willem didn't stop; that was really not his plan at all. Breathing heavily and sighing, he ran as fast as he could until his legs gave out.

He had to stop for a moment to catch his breath. But suddenly, one of the men emerged from a bush. It was the man with the red hat.

"What do you want with me?" Willem shouted."

"Don't talk nonsense, we don't want anything. You found our drug stash, so you have to die! I'm really not planning on throwing everything away and getting arrested," the man with the red hat yelled.

Willem knew he really had to get out of there. It would certainly end badly.Without hesitation, he sprinted away as fast as possible. He thought and knew that he would get away, until the second man who wasn't there at first suddenly grabbed him from behind.

"It's over for you now buddy!!" (said with a smile)

" Martijn, finish him off quickly!!! We can't waste time. Otherwise, our boss will be angry," the man said.

"Oh man, that guy just needs to stop whining. I'm getting tired of him," replied the man with the red hat.

Willem then started screaming loudly, "Let me go, you dirty bastard! I didn't do anything!"

But then Willem went completely silent when he saw the man with the red hat walking towards him. He was holding a large, scary knife in his hands. "No, no, I don't want to! No, don't do it! I didn't do anything! I'll keep quiet!!!"There was nothing that could be done to get out of this situation. He was in the woods and there was no one to help him. Then he thought about his mother. The man with the red hat stabbed Willem in the stomach and then in the chest. Willem screamed from the shock of a knife entering his body. He felt nothing, no pain and no fear. The only feeling he had was that he had to get as far away as possible. Something finally clicked in Willem. He smashed his elbow into the man's stomach with such force he had to let Willem go and dropped to his knees, screaming from the pain. Willem took the chance and bolted. But he became weaker and weaker from all the blood loss. Unconsciously, he left blood trails behind that dripped from the leaves of the bushes.

Willem kept running, and at one point, he saw a light: it was a highway. He had to cross that highway and ask for help! It didn't matter if the police arrested him; he could explain everything later. Eventually, he emerged from the woods and stepped onto the highway. Oh no! Willem hadn't paid attention, because in his adrenaline rush, a black car came at him and hit Willem hard. His body was flung across the rough asphalt. But he wasn't dead. He was so in shock that he didn't notice his arms, legs, and part of his body were all in a terrible state. There was so much blood. Willem's eyes stared blankly at the state of his own body. He couldn't think or even move and just stared into the distance. He didn't move, he didn't speak. Suddenly, a woman ran towards him. It was the driver of the car.

She screamed and cried, and held her hands over her face. Now Willem began to realize what had really happened. Only now did he start to register the pain. Willem began to scream and cry from all the pain. The woman held his hands and tried to comfort him and distract him, but Willem didn't stop crying. The two men who had been following him stood in the background by the trees. "Yeah, we don't need to do anything else. Come on, let's go quickly, the police will never find out what happened. He died from an accident" said the man with the red hat. The other man nodded, and they both calmly walked back into the woods as if nothing had ever happened.

Willem began to feel very weak. Everything started to fade away. The police and ambulance arrived not long after. Unfortunately, Willem died in so much pain before they could do anything.
