He made the short, sharp turn into Bai Lu's office and closed the doors behind him, attempting to hide the fact that he was shaking, which was incredibly out of character for him.
Bai Lu unfastened her coat with one hand before rounding her desk in order to take a seat and waved her fingers at him, instructing him to step forward.
"Have a seat."
He scurried over and gracefully attempted to take a seat across from her. Taking a deep breath, to calm down, he couldn't help but stare at her.
He noticed she was incredibly young and attractive. Her eyes, a mesmerizing shade of hazel, held a captivating depth that seemed to reveal untold stories. The way her eyelashes frame her eyes adds a nice touch, making them look even more appealing. There's a quiet confidence in the way she looks at you, making her eyes stand out and making her really stunning.
For such a young and beautiful woman it might have been so difficult to raise to the top.
In his short experience, chief executive officers were older, overweight, and unreasonably bad-tempered. She was truly admirable. His lips curled into a faint smile.
"I prefer a Caramel Macchiato, " she said. "Your responsibility will be to arrive at my office promptly at 8 a.m. daily, presenting me with the specified coffee and outlining the day's agenda on my desk. You are expected to meticulously plan, schedule, and participate in all company-related meetings, conferences, presentations, and social events.
Your presentation and note-taking should be exceptionally thorough. Additionally, record audio during all gatherings and deliver well-labeled, organized transcripts to me within twenty-four hours, filing each into its designated repository."
"Of course, Madam," he quickly responded. These were things he had been taught yesterday when he had reported for training. "Bai Lu," she replied, pulling him from his thoughts before giving him a onceover. He immediately grew hyperaware of the state of his suit when a disapproving glare befall her chiseled face.
This is the only suit he owned. His mother had bought it for him for his first job interview two years ago. He loved the suit even though he had grown and it didn't fit him as much as before.
"It seems you need a new suit, Mr. Mu, you might want to consider investing in a new wardrobe. You will need to be properly prim and proper if you are to be seen in public with me."
Mu Chen swallowed. How was he going to get thousands to buy a new suit? He should've let Xiao Zhan buy him some when he had offered.
'"Okay Ma'am." He replied.
Bai Lu frowned at him clearly she hated the title but she said nothing about it
She handed him a stack of thick binders. These are the memos I need you to get out today," she said. "Then I have a few documents that need to be written. I have a lunch engagement, so I need you to get me a reservation at one of the restaurants on the list in your office. Let me know which one by eleven."
'Yes, Ma'am,' he replied.

The remainder of the day went by without a hindrance. Clients came and went as he sat at his desk, attempting to perfect the following week's itinerary and occasionally fetching documents for his new boss. He had reserved the restaurant for her exactly by 10am and she had seemed pleased.
His phone rang, pulling him from his work, and he immediately pressed down on the receiver when she saw Bai Lu's extension flashing on the screen.
"Yes, Ma'am?"
"I want you to accompany me to the restaurant. Sorry I didn't inform you earlier. Hope you can go with me?"
"Y-yes, please." He was surprised she was asking him to accompany her.
She hung up the call and seconds later, she emerged from her office.
"Let's go." She said.
They made their way toward the elevator, and he gently pressed his hand on the small of her back, inviting her to step in once the doors opened. If she didn't like it she didn't comment.
His index finger pressed down on the button for the lobby, and an uneasy feeling spread throughout his body, but he ignored it, unsure of what to make of it.
They rode down in silence but he couldn't take his eyes off her. The air inside of the elevator felt thicker than usual especially when she catches him staring at her.
He could see the tiredness on her face especially when she rubbed the nape of her neck. Her neck was so beautiful. This woman was truly exceptional.
She paused and turned to look at him, her brows arched.
"Mr. Mu is something on my face?" She asked.
Mu Chen shook his head, holding her gaze.
"No, ma'am. You're just so beautiful."
She just stared at him but showed no emotion on her face and remained silent.
Mu Chen bit down on the inside of his cheeks in order to keep himself from saying something he might regret as the elevator whirred.
He took notice of the smell of her perfume. It was incredibly inviting simply because he had never smelled anything like it.
