The living room was furnished with several long couches. A man in his fifties emerged from the adjacent bedroom, holding a teacup and looking at them indifferently.
At the sight of Li Manli, who had just walked in, his face immediately revealed a kindly smile as he gently said to her, "Manli, you're here!"
His smile then froze because he spotted Li Fei following behind Li Manli. His face now bore a scrutinizing look, his gaze sweeping over his daughter unabashedly to evaluate Li Fei.
He took a few steps forward and asked Li Fei, "Who might you be?"
Li Manli coughed and hurriedly began to introduce him, "He is Li Fei..."
Before she could finish, her father, Li Changhe, rudely interrupted her, "I wasn't asking you!"
Li Manli instantly shut her mouth and glanced back at Li Fei.
Initially, Li Fei had been apprehensive, cautious and unable to relax, but the imposing presence of Li Changhe now laid bare before him, void of any polite respect.
