Chen Yang picked up the phone and heard An Ning's voice, "I heard from my family that you killed Chen Zheng in the Chens' courtyard. Is it true?"
Chen Yang said, "It wasn't me. He jumped out of the helicopter himself."
An Ning, of course, didn't believe that, but she just quietly said "Thank you" before hanging up the phone.
Although she knew that Chen Yang had taken a woman out of the Chens' compound, she was still grateful to Chen Yang. With Chen Zheng dead, her engagement to him was automatically cancelled, no longer requiring her to marry.
This issue that had always plagued An Ning was thus completely resolved.
However, she was very concerned about Chen Yang's situation and felt utterly powerless.
Even the entire Ans couldn't contend with the Chens, let alone Chen Yang alone.
Even so, An Ning still called her father, hoping against hope that he could help in some way, if only to save Chen Yang's life.
…
Meanwhile, back at the Chens' grand courtyard.
