I watched as her eyes widened in terror, her face pale and drawn. "Won't you tell me what happened?" I asked, trying to keep my voice soft and gentle.
But it only seemed to make her tremble more. She tried to form words, but her voice was shaking, her lips trembling as she struggled to speak. I felt a pang of concern, my heart going out to her as I saw the fear etched on her face.
"He remembers," she whispered, her voice barely audible. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I saw the terror in her eyes. "He remembers everything."
My expression contoured, my brow furrowing in concern. "Who remembers?" I asked, trying to keep my voice gentle, but her agitation only seemed to grow.
I saw a cold sweat break out on her skin as she whispered the name that haunted her. "Ezekiel...he remembers everything." Her voice cracked as she spoke, her words trembling with fear.
