The lich king's voice was laced with an air of unease as he asked, "Why do you reside in this place?" His gaze swept across the surroundings as if searching for something.
"If I were you, I would leave this place immediately," he warned, his tone grave. "The mana emanating from this place is utterly revolting and disgusting."
I furrowed my brow, perplexed. What kind of mana was he sensing? I hadn't detected anything unusual, nor had the spirits that accompanied me. We had been staying in this mansion for five years, and nothing out of the ordinary had occurred.
A spark of curiosity ignited within me. Why was the lich king, who had only just arrived, sensed something that had gone undetected by me and spirits for so long?
I made a mental note to investigate further. I needed to find the source of this allegedly corrupted mana.
"You may leave if you're finished," I said, dismissing the lich king. "I'd like to change and rest now."
