Chapter 57 - CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN: BE MY GIRLFRIEND

"That's not fair. Why do I have to tell Ovie the truth about who I am?" I complained with an annoyed look.

Arizona shrugged her shoulders with a mocking smirk.

"If I'm correct, you are his girlfriend. He won't actually scream at you for being a snake".

"I'm not his girlfriend and if you guys think I'm telling him the truth about what I am. Don't think about it. Besides, I'm not yet ready to tell him the truth about what I am".

Arizona walked up to me and placed her hands on both my shoulders. She sighed abruptly.

"So, when do you think is the right time to tell him about who you are?"

Arizona asked while staring into my eyes.

I shrugged my shoulders, giving a carefree attitude.

"I don't know".

"Then how do you think I will be able to train you if we are going to be hiding something from someone?"

Arizona's question really got me thinking.

She was right. If they are going to train me, there's absolutely no way they would be able to hide my secret from Ovie. And to think we were all going to be staying in the same place.

"Okay then. I'll do it. I'll tell him the truth about who I am but I need no interruptions" I said adding a warning.

Arizona, old lady Papirus and Melissa nodded simultaneously at my warning.

I sighed.

"Also, it's good that we are all together. If we are going against Huck now that Naagin knows the truth,we all need to be united".

Old lady Papirus spoke with a confident smile.

Arizona smirked.

"Brush it, Papirus. We are not in some goofy movie. It's all reality" Arizona muttered.

Turning my gaze back to the wooden elevator, I walked into it expecting the other ladies to follow in line. They all walked into the elevator and Melissa closed the two sided door.

Old lady Papirus pulled down the pulley and the wooden elevator did it's job of going up the hill.

We all stayed in silence as the wooden elevator went up the hill. But that was until old lady Papirus broke the silence.

"Ovie, for sure is going to be surprised that we have company".

She chuckled at her own words.

I smiled hearing her words.

"It's been a long day and a lot has happened, only for today".

I said, trying to break the silence. But it went down the drain as both Arizona and Melissa kept quiet.

In a short while,we were at the top of the hill. The four of us stepped out of the elevator, taking in the scene that unfolded before us.

The whole hill was a lot quiet. Even the night insects couldn't be heard making noise. And to make it worse, the moon hadn't appeared in the sky. It was more of a clouded sky.

The whole surrounding of the old lady's hut was quiet. It still surprises me,how big her hut is. Could fit a dinosaur.

"Seems we are going to be having a late dinner".

Melissa spoke while yawning.

Old lady Papirus chuckled. She walked towards her hut, employing for the rest of us to follow.

We followed old lady Papirus as we all walked towards the hut. Getting to the hut, old lady Papirus didn't even bother to knock. She opened the door and barged into the hut.

I don't really blame her for barging into the hut. Besides, it's her home.

Arizona and Melissa followed in entering the hut. I closed the door onced I had entered inside the hut.

Not long after, I heard the click of a switch and the lights came on.

Melissa collapsed on the comfortable sofa, while taking a breath in. She seemed to be exhausted but I didn't know why. I guess after being in snake form and slithering from a long distance could have actually made her tired.

Arizona followed suit in sitting down while I stood at the door. Old lady Papirus disappeared into the deeper parts of the hut only to come back later with a worried look.

"What is it old lady Papirus?" I asked seeing her worried look.

"Ovie isn't in the hut".

Hearing her answer,it was like I was about to be torn into shreds.

"What?"

I called out in worry as I rushed over to the old lady Papirus.

I was about getting to her when her voice stopped me in my tracks.

"But there's nothing to worry about. He's just at the back, in the garden".

Old lady Papirus said while chuckling. Her worried look was immediately washed away and replaced with an amused look.

I growled at her antics earning a chuckle from her.

"Go on Naagin" Arizona said with the wave of her hand. "Go over to Ovie at the back and do what is to be done. We all will prepare dinner and, don't forget to let him know about our presence".

I sighed and glanced at both old lady Papirus and Melissa. They both gave me a nod,as if a sign of encouragement.

I turned and walked out of the hut through the door. Coming out, back in the open, I took in fresh air while closing my eyes. I opened my eyes and took a turn, heading for the garden.

It wasn't long till I found myself in the garden. The old lady's garden of beautiful flowers.

It was in this garden that Ovie had given me a Rose flower. That was when we had literally gotten into the Umuguor forest and found ourselves in the home of the old lady. I could remember vividly how he told me, that I was as beautiful as the rose flower.

Only the thought of it, made my belly swell with butterflies. It was a wonderful feeling, though.

My eyes caught sight of Ovie. He was sitting on a bench, mainly for just relaxation. When one would like to relax and stare at the view of the flower garden, the bench for sure would come in handy.

Peering in closely at Ovie from were I stood, I noticed the worries boldly written on his face. It only showed that he was really worried about me. What would happen if I actually told him some kind of a tale about who I am? I had the feeling it would break his heart, but I had to tell him. Especially if, Arizona and Melissa are going to train me to get stronger.

The spirit rabbits were keeping him company. They were six of them, with Zeph on his right shoulder. It seems Zeph was comforting him with soothing words but Ovie stared obviously at the clouded sky.

After some time staring at Ovie from the shadows, I decided to make my presence known. I walked out from were I had stood, steadily approaching Ovie.

It didn't take long for Ovie to sense my presence. Once his gaze was turned upon me, he stared at me in disbelief. He recovered immediately and his worried face light up with a bright smile. He stood up from the bench and ran up to me, taking me a tight hug. I hugged him back, snaking my arms around his back and going in for a more tighter hug.

"I was worried about you".

Ovie said in between the tight hug.

I chuckled softly, that seemed to warm his heart.

"How are you?" I asked still holding him in the hug.

"I'm fine, what about you?"

He said, pulling away from the hug and cupping my cheeks with his hands.

"I'm fine as well".

"Where's old lady Papirus?" He asked looking up at the hut.

"She's inside the hut with her friends. She said I should come get you for dinner".

Ovie gave a raised eyebrow at hearing the words friends.

"She brought friends?"

He asked and to which I nodded.

Just then, Zeph and the other five spirit rabbits jumped right on top of Ovie's head and shoulders. They all looked at me with an amazing smile, lighting up their faces.

"You see Ovie. I told you she would be here any minute from now. And you didn't even need to worry about her".

Zeph was the first to speak up.

He jumped right on top of my head making me to laugh.

"And for you to stay so long in Hijirar's temple, did worry him".

Zeph said while peering down at my face from my head.

"Okay then, sorry for making you all worried" I said pretending to apologise.

Ovie smiled hearing my fake apology.

"Okay then,my lady. Your apology has been accepted".

Ovie's words made me laugh out loud. The spirit rabbits joined us in laughing.

After our short laugh, Ovie and I stared at each other. Our eyes peering deeply into the other.

Zeph and the other spirit rabbits chuckled at our intense stare.

"We would give you both some privacy" Zeph said while chuckling.

Giving a sign to the other spirit rabbits, Zeph jumped down from my head, followed by the others on Ovie's head and shoulders. On reaching the ground, they all formed a circle, holding each other's hands.

Not long after, green energy burst out from their body and they emitted green flame.

I could see the surprised and confused look on Ovie's face. It seems he isn't familiar with seeing people use magic.

The six rabbits including Zeph, successfully created a green energy portal. After creating the portal, the spirit rabbits jumped in, one by one until it was only Zeph remaining.

"See you later, Ovie. And I hope you both have the privacy you want".

With that Zeph, jumped into the portal and the portal closed.

Zeph was right,we did need privacy. If I had to tell Ovie about who I was, I could better do it in privacy. From the prying ears of the spirit rabbits.

"You said something about old lady Papirus, bringing friends. Who are they?"

Ovie said, breaking my line of thoughts. Looking up at Ovie's face, I smiled.

"Let's go have a sit at the bench in the garden. I wanna tell you something".

I gave Ovie a weird smile and he shrugged his shoulders. He followed me as I lead him to the bench. I sat first and employed him to also sit. Once he had sit,he didn't hesitate to ask me questions.

"What is it Naagin? You seem to be acting strangely ever since you got back. And what is it you want to tell me?"

I took a deep breath, taking in all Ovie had said before letting it all out.

"I said something about, old lady Papirus having guests right?"

I asked, to which he nodded.

"Then I also said something about telling you, right?"

I asked again and he nodded.

"You see, Ovie" I started. " There is a reason why I took a long time during our visit to Hijirar's temple. I didn't really go there for any other reason except for knowing who I really was and the truth about myself".

Ovie creased his brow in confusion but he remained calm.

"What are you trying to say Naagin?" Ovie asked, staring into my eyes.

I sighed and let out a breath.

Not long after, I told him everything that I had been hiding, even from the beginning, when he was stabbed.

@@@

I told him everything. Everything he needed to know about me all I had been hiding. From the time he was stabbed by Praise, about the black Cobra that had saved him by giving me a black seed and how I was turned into a snake by the black Cobra, through the golden seed.

I told him everything that had happened during the excursion, when I had killed all of Praise's men, even the ones that had taken him into the forest. I told him what I was and who I was. I told him about my new found family and my mission.

It took me two hours to clear Ovie on all that he needed to know. All he needed to know about me, Naagin.

&&&

Ovie stared at me, his mouth open. He was so lost on all that I had said.

But suddenly, he smiled.

That got me surprised.

Did Ovie know the truth about who I was?

But what he said next, baffled me to my core.

"Naagin Cabrera. Be my girlfriend".
