Lin Anning moved a stool over and sat by the bed, leaning against Huo Shen with their heads together.
"You promised me you wouldn't leave me, don't go back on your word."
His gentle breath brushed her face, and Huo Shen let out a soft laugh.
"How could I? I'm more concerned that you'll have regrets."
Lin Anning couldn't help herself and kissed his sharp brows and eyes.
"I won't. To have found someone as great as you, you don't know how happy I am."
"You sleep for a while. I'll stay right here and not leave."
The exhaustion from the past few days finally settled like dust the moment she saw Huo Shen, and sleepiness hit her like a mountain.
Lin Anning couldn't resist closing her eyes and drifted off to a deep sleep.
Not long after, a nurse came to change the dressings.
Huo Shen gestured for silence and slowly sat up, a roll of gauze in his mouth.
