Lucas sighed, realizing he had to confess. "Alright, I admit it. I took the trophy. But my intentions were not what you assume."
Officer Blackwood looked intrigued. "What do you mean by that?"
Lucas paused before elaborating. "I was upset. I went to the trophy room where all the trophies were stored before being distributed to the winning schools. I took the one that belonged to Desmond and Henry and tossed it into the pool. I didn't intend to harm anyone. I just wanted to dispose of it."
Officer Johnson's gaze narrowed. "So, you're claiming you didn't use the trophy to strike Desmond?"
Lucas shook his head. "No, I promise. I simply tossed it away. Desmond being there didn't even cross my mind."
The officers shared a doubtful glance, but Lucas persisted. "You have to trust me. I was just overwhelmed with anger and frustration. I never intended for any harm to come to anyone."
